ncwoz
Boy, great round of golf and Bryson is no doubt gonna be around for a while. But yeesh, that post round interview with him was painful. aerospace_ray
So very nice tournament and great win for BAD. I wonder deep down which one piece of information/swing thought/strategy tweak, etc contributed the most to his success this weekend? Was it his chat w/Phil M. regarding the short game or his Sat late evening driver - driving range session? I know there were several things that contributed to his success and win but regarding this past week I just wonder what one thing/piece of advice, etc. had the most impact? FrogginBullfish
I don't think he's trying to show off how smart he is. It seems more to me that that is just the way he's wired. It's just how he thinks about things. I get that it might come across that way, you're not the only one sharing that opinion, but I don't think he actually has any intent to lord his intelligence over anyone. It seems he, like sixcat mentioned about Patrick Reed, is just really misunderstood. I've seen a lot of people talk about how genuine and how nice and down to earth he is. They also have all said Bryson talks the way he does in press conferences in regular conversation. It's just who he is. Boy, great round of golf and Bryson is no doubt gonna be around for a while. But yeesh, that post round interview with him was painful. FrogginBullfish
The 48" driver experiment is officially a go... I saw something earlier in the week where it seems it's only a matter of time before Bryson brings a 48" driver into play. Sounded like he's just waiting on LA Golf Shafts to get him a driver shaft at 48" that's as consistent as his current one is at 45.5".So try as the governing bodies may to rein him in, I don't think they're going to be successful in taking his distance advantage away or much of his distance in general, if they do rein the ball in.Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile appSent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app Quote DRIVER PXG 0811XF GEN4 (10.5°) FAIRWAY WOODS PXG 0341XF GEN4 (16°) HYBRIDS PXG 0317XF GEN4 (19°), PXG 0317X GEN4 (22°) IRONS PXG 0311T GEN3 (5 - 9) WEDGES TAYLORMADE MG3 (45°, 50°, 55° TW Grind, 60° TW Grind) PUTTER PXG BATTLE READY ONE & DONE

sixcat
What's the odds on the USGA revising the timeline on the distance study? And that study leading to equipment changes? Just my opinion but given Bryson's personality, he may just be the driving force that pushes the USGA to make equipment changes. In the same vein as Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Ernie Els and Adam Scott winning majors led to the ban of the anchored putter. sixcat
My other take-a-way from last week. Given the last five US Open winners have been DJ, Koepka, Koepka, Woodland and DeChambeau, can we finally agree tighter fairways and longer rough are NOT a defense for bomb and gouge? It actually increases their chances as Koepka has pointed out on several occasions. PMookie, revkev, Kenny B and 1 other

bacchus
I understand the uproar of the how Bryson is changing with his length and its definitely a game changer, but you're also talking about an insanely talented guy in the first place. It's not like some PGA journeyman or young struggling Korn Ferry player underwent this transformation and unlocked a key to success. I know the TV plays up certain story lines because #content and his length and a lot of short irons helped him lead in SG Approach, but they definitely didn't give enough credit to Bryson's scrambling around the green (#3 SG for US Open) and putting (#18 for the US Open). One thing I also wonder is if the slopes on the greens helped Bryson, he was definitely precise at times but in past tournaments he's struggled with his wedges and I wonder if the ability to use slopes to filter the ball to the hole actually helped his ability to get the ball closer.
