This Sucks!

These fires are killing me, smoke is so bad and being outside sucks. What the heck can I do to fix my golf itch while California is burning?

I’m just checking purpleair to find areas that aren’t as bad smoke wise and still playing. Wear my mask and sunglasses and it’s been okay.

Sadly, it's not just CA that's producing smoke.  I walked 27 holes on Tuesday before the last wave moved into our area yesterday... probably shouldn't have.  I have a friend in Bend, OR who said their air quality has reached dangerous levels.  Much as many in the west like our "indian summers", most are hoping for some wet weather.

That really sucks, here in Michigan we are getting the smoke but really high up so it just produces a slight haze in the upper atmosphere..

Our air quality has been at dangerous levels since last Friday.  Courses were closed Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue.  Finally opened up Wed afternoon.  Guess what??  They plugged and sanded the course!!!!  Not worth playing!

The worst! I hate when the plug and sand its terrible, and i'm a club ***** who hates getting his putter dirty and scratched.

Good news in the Central Valley of CA. It looks like a normal day outside for the first time in a month. Wind's shifted and have started blowing the smoke out, not good for fires though.

Greens were not heavily sanded, but wet and the ball picked up sand as it rolled.  I putted balls that didn't get to the hole on a 20 foot putt that would have rolled off the green last week.  Honestly, I didn't want to adjust to the speed because I know will be quicker next time I play.

We are even getting some solid haze here in NH from these fires. Obviously we have been spared it affecting air quality too much. Hope everyone stays safe out there and many of these fires can be gotten under control.

Saw blue skies today in LA and the air quality went from “unhealthy” to “unhealthy for sensitive groups”, so felt pretty normal out on the course this afternoon. The public courses are definitely getting the late summer bake though, combined with the constant play have left the greens less than ideal.

I noticed that here in Ohio - especially at sunrise - the orange haze around the sun. We're all breathing in that west coast air.
