(6) TESTERS WANTED: BIRDIEBALL PUTTING MAT

bg2020_indoormat_birdieball_std-05.jpg

The biggest knock on artificial putting greens is that they don't roll like real putting greens. BirdieBall believes it's cracked the code. Using a proprietary foam material, it claimed status as MyGolfSpy's  "Best Putting Mat 2020."

Given the state of the world, it seems everyone is adding something to the "at home" practice arsenal, so here's your chance to keep sharp while locked down.

This opportunity is available to current forum members residing in the US. To apply, reply to this thread with the following information:

  1. First Name and Location
  2. How do you keep your putting sharp through the winter?
  3. Current/Past Experience with putting mats
  4. Go to www.birdieball.com and tell us which speed green you'd want to test

Colin Cavanagh, Tacoma Washington

putting at course and at home.

haven't found a mat that is close to the same roll and feel as a real turf green.

I would like the medium speed mat as it is not too slow but not too fast.

I putt on my carpet!

I've had putting mats from Amazon, but nothing like this.

I would like to test the medium speed!

  2. This has always been a struggle. I've practiced on carpet, just to try to keep alignment/setup with limited success.
  3. I've tried several cheap mats with automatic ball return mechanism. Never had anything that was close enough to reality to be what I would consider "practice". At best, they could be classified as attempting to minimize the deterioration/rust buildup over the long winters in Northern Wisconsin.
  4. I play municipal courses almost exclusively. Some of them have surprisingly fast greens, but I probably should still go with the "slow" speed mat for this product test. NOTE: If I find that I need a faster version, I can take the money saved by doing this review and purchase a faster version for my long-term practice!

  2. I putt on a long hallway rug and use a pressure putt at the end as my target.  I also use a laser level on the rug to align my putts and watch whether my ball is following the line.
  3. I have had experience putting on cheap roll out carpets, putting on artificial raised putting greens on platforms, and have even used hardwood floors.
  4. Slow - 9- 10 Stimpmeter - Public Municipal

As @B.Boston stated what a great winter training opportunity....except I live in sunny SoCal where "what is winter"? but I have a newborn so not getting out much to play but this is definitely a great opportunity to polish up my putting for when I get back to playing more regularly

Brian from Los Angeles
Again, what is this "winter" you speak of? I just go out and play in my shorts and polo all year long...sometimes it gets cold in the mornings here so i might wear a beanie...
I had a birdieball pressure puttout trainer with the optional 10"x8' putting matt. I gave the putt out to my mom and the putting matt is sitting rolled up in a box on my patio! Not sure if this is the same as the putting matts they have now.
If i were to try a birdieball putting matt now probably would test the medium speed greens as I tend to play faster munis and semi-private courses

in the meantime, let me go unroll that putting matt and see if the claim that it lays flat after a roll up holds true...might be an earlier gen so a different product altogether

2. Currently have a matt but it’s not great.

3. can’t remember the brand that I am using..has a plastic ring not a hole.

4. would prefer medium speed

Last year I came back to the game after a nearly 20 year retirement from the game. Hoping this winter I can do some lessons and get my game back into high school golf team shape!

In the winter I try to putt as much as possible. I putt on carpets, simulators, artificial greens, and practice mats.

I have a bit of practice with putting mats I have different ones I like to practice on.

I would like to putt on a medium speed with any flag configurations to give me the best experience to give back good feedback.

I only get to practice on the carpet in my house. i would love to try a putting mat.

past experience is zero, I have not had a putting mat, so i would love to try one of these out.

The medium speed mat, as i play one course with relatively medium to fast speed green.

2. Practice on a mat in my basement along with an eyeline putting mirror almost daily. Lots of practice time recently working from home, love putting during conference calls!

3. Have experience with a handful of lower end mats, nothing as high end as birdieball.

4. Would love to test either the slow or medium.

 Thanks!

Living in Florida, I have the ability to practice on the putting on golf course putting greens year round.

Had putting mats in the past.  They were never realistic enough.  Too thin, and bumpy.

I practice mainly on carpet in my house, I am currently a 3 handicap and my biggest downfall is, well as you could guess, putting, this product looks very unique and useful. I would love to test it out!!

  1. First Name and Location - Reese, Central Minnesota
  2. How do you keep your putting sharp through the winter? - Currently I do not really have a good practice option for practicing in the winter. The only short carpet I have is like the punched greens haha.
  3. Current/Past Experience with putting mats - I personally do not have much experience with putting mats but the ones that I have used are very unrealistic.
  4. Go to www.birdieball.com and tell us which speed green you'd want to test - I would want to test the medium green speed because I play on all types of greens. Thanks for this opportunity! I am confident that I could give you a very good review if you were to pick me.
