ZMendle10
Has anyone ever played a Krank driver at all? I know that they are for long drive competitions but they also make a model that is supposedly USGA conforming? Shankster
Been looking at them. The Formula 11 Pro’s look to be conforming clubs. I recently fell in love with hitting driver after years of leaving it in the trunk. My goal now is to just smash the Living heck out of every tee shot with it. When I don’t go full bore I hit it OB... for now. Chip Strokes and ZMendle10
Kenny B
I have always liked the looks of the Krank, but they haven't performed well in MGS Most Wanted testing in the past. txgolfjunkie
I swung a Krank Formula 5 back in 2014...it didn't last but a few rounds. I would probably say the biggest issue was the shaft and on top of that, the club isn't as forgiving as what you might find in a typical TM or Callaway driver. They're fun in theory but not so much on the tee box. JohnSmalls
No experience with them, but fwiw all of their drivers used in official long drive comps have to be USGA conforming. The non-conforming stuff is purely a marketing move to sell more product. Scott1019
I've been playing a Krank Rage for 10 years and stick with it mostly because I can keep it in play. I've also had the Element and both frankly are quality clubs and I feel they did a nice job fitting me over the phone but my next driver (in the next few months most likely) will be something I've been fitted for after hitting so it likely won't be a Krank. Joe Kope
I just purchased a Formula 11 driver. I've been on the range twice and played twice. No great difference so far compared to my older Taylormade. The head is heavier as I believe it is all metal. I did hit a few that seemed longer but not enough to make a statement. It could be firm/dry fairways but not the 20 yards that thought I'd see.
2manydrivers
Several years ago I experimented with other LD heads (Bang, SMT, etc) with 47” regular/stiff shafts. What I realized was the LD heads were designed primarily to NOT CAVE IN at those enormous swing speeds that LD competitors generate. That extra mass at the face did nothing for golfers with “normal“ SS’s & probably produced much lower CT/COR. Bobbers
Flexx55
I purchased a 5 deg Krank Formula Fire LD earlier this summer. My swing speed is 125-132, and that was plenty enough to cave the sole on both the original head and the replacement head that Lance Reader graciously replaced for free. The head weighs 198 grams without the adapter, which is 10 grams heavier than other LD heads I have played. I purchased it with the Fujikara Flywire in 2X at 48”. The club was delivered at an E6 swingweight, which is unhittable. I counterbalanced the shaft with 25g and still had to tip it over an inch to get it playable. This made it too heavy to achieve even 125 mph swing speed without losing control. in the end, it hits about 15 yds less than my 8 degree 46” TaylorMade Sim 2 that I use for normal play. It’s clear that this is simply a heavier/de-lofted version of the non-conforming high COR that Krank makes for high-handicap/low swing speed golfers. Frankly, the build quality is poor, and there’s no way that a low handicapper with swing speeds above 105 can make any practical use of this club head. It’s a draw biased, high spin head that’ll you whipping duck hooks once you swing it above 125 mph, that is until you cave it in. I like Lance, but unfortunately these clubs are more of a conversation piece than anything you would want in your bag. I saw a picture of Bryson with the same club, but I can’t see any way it could be effective in tournament play, or even competitive at WLD without some major tweaks to the chassis.
