Has anyone ever played a Krank driver at all? I know that they are for long drive competitions but they also make a model that is supposedly USGA conforming?

Been looking at them.  The Formula 11 Pro’s look to be conforming clubs.  I recently fell in love with hitting driver after years of leaving it in the trunk.  My goal now is to just smash the Living heck out of every tee shot with it.  When I don’t go full bore I hit it OB... for now.

I have always liked the looks of the Krank, but they haven't performed well in MGS Most Wanted testing in the past.

Thats what I was interested in was if MGS even tested them to begin with. Also I have never been a fan of the looks myself they seem very big, blocky, and boxy.

I swung a Krank Formula 5 back in 2014...it didn't last but a few rounds. I would probably say the biggest issue was the shaft and on top of that, the club isn't as forgiving as what you might find in a typical TM or Callaway driver. They're fun in theory but not so much on the tee box.

It sounds like they just don't have the consistency or forgiveness to warrant the use of any potential extra distance gains that are to be had.

No experience with them, but fwiw all of their drivers used in official long drive comps have to be USGA conforming.  The non-conforming stuff is purely a marketing move to sell more product.

That alone makes their entire product and business seem super sketchy

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been playing a Krank Rage for 10 years and stick with it mostly because I can keep it in play.  I've also had the Element and both frankly are quality clubs and I feel they did a nice job fitting me over the phone but my next driver (in the next few months most likely) will be something I've been fitted for after hitting so it likely won't be a Krank.

Driver: Krank Element

3-wood: Adams Speedline Fast 12

4 Iron: Maltby KE4 Tour+ 2" long, 1.5 up and 3 strong

4-5 Iron: Maltby KE4 Tour+ 1.5 long, 2 up

6-PW: Maltby TS-1 1.5 long, 2 up

50 & 56: Maltby TSW 1.5 long, 2 up

60: Mizuno T7

Putter: Ping STR
