cnosil
Does anyone have any tips on what to use to get lines to stay in the carpet? I tried blue painters tape and it did not last long lol especially after my daughter started putting also haha I started to make out a grid and it looks like I have at least 10ft maybe more if I can move some things, so that will help with practicing 5 and 10 footers and comparing with my current gamer once my Tomcat arrivesWhat are you trying to setup? Carpet is tough to put tape on since it flexes. For ball roll, use a yardstick, if you roll the ball off the end this gives a good indication that face is square.Use ball sleeves for path. You can put them outside or inside the path to block where the putter goes. If you don’t just want to lay an object at the 5 and 10 foot marks, tape should work. Alf. S
Another go with the putter today working on alignment after the video analysis. Little more over the ball and feels a bit better. Still using my gamer for my round today and shot 79, 32 putts 5 singles, 12 doubles and one 3 putt on the last. Nice 35 footer for birdie on 15. Plan is to take it out on my practise rounds on Monday and Tuesday next week and give it a good test drive on the greens. Coming to a crucial part of the competition season for me so a bit reluctant to move to the Heppler for the comps but we'll see after early next week. Initial impression is the roll and pace are really good, it has a real good feel straight out the box. MadMex
After a long day of loading boxes from our home we just sold and driving to rental an unloading, I saw a box matching the length of a putter. Felt like a kid at Christmas! I noticed the return address and right after saw the top end opened and the side crushed. I picked it up and quickly looked inside, all was OK !!!! The sun was just about to disappear, so no chance to take a drive to the course, no problem, early morning session, the world was right, for a couple of minutes. Phone rang, work, my hours were changed just for today and Sunday, so another evening of carpet putting *sigh* The rest of the week is full of appointments and moving, one thing I can say is the color, I was kind of iffy about the color scheme based on the photos, but when I saw it in person, very nice, PING subdued colors. Alf. S
Out on the course today with the Floki for the 1st time in a practise round. I was a bit apprehensive since my more recent putters have been centre weighted and this is strongly toe-weighted But it was a pretty good start 31 putts in 4 over par round. Had a good 12 foot birdie, 1 x 3 putt which was more poor judgement by me and some good par savers from 6 feet and in. Missed 1 putt inside 6 feet with a push but I was tightening up after being level par thru 12. Seemed to be getting a good smooth roll on the ball and was getting pretty good pace and feel by the end of the round. Having putted with milled brass and steel putters and putters with metal inserts this seems to have a unique feel and sound. My first requirement of a putter is that I feel confident over putts 6 feet and in and after playing with my setup in the first few holes I was feeling pretty comfortable. The alignment line is wider than on other putters and the contrast with the black body seems to suit my eye. Hopefully 2 more bounce games with it this week before decision time, will I use it for the weekend competition? fixyurdivot and MyWifesSwingCoach 2 Quote WIMB Driver Callaway Epic 10.5' Fujikura Stiff 3W Callaway Epic 15' Fujikura Stiff 3-AW Srixon Z565 Nippon Stiff 52', 56' Cleveland RTX 585 Wedges Putter Taylormade Rosa Daytona Bags 2017 Callaway Org14 Cart bag or 2018 Srixon Z start Carry bag

Alf. S
Out again today, course still not fully open recovering from the rain pounding of the weekend, so only played 11 holes. The greens had just been cut so were playing a little faster than yesterday and that seem to make a difference race a few passed but started with 3 single putts from 6 feet on the first 3 greens. Had only one 3 putt but I feel I'm kidding myself on a little by excluding putting from the fringe which would have added another one. But for comparison my stats with my gamer are measured this way. Spent some time on the practise green at the end for 15 mins, one of the members did comment that the heel was off the ground at address indicating that the lie needed adjusted. It didn't seem to affect the strike but I may look and see if there is a local place that can adjust the lie for me. cnosil, HardcoreLooper, MyWifesSwingCoach and 1 other 4 Quote WIMB Driver Callaway Epic 10.5' Fujikura Stiff 3W Callaway Epic 15' Fujikura Stiff 3-AW Srixon Z565 Nippon Stiff 52', 56' Cleveland RTX 585 Wedges Putter Taylormade Rosa Daytona Bags 2017 Callaway Org14 Cart bag or 2018 Srixon Z start Carry bag

Shapotomous
Well it wasn't much of a trial run. I only got to play 9 holes before getting rained out yesterday afternoon and again this morning. But for those 9 holes it felt and worked pretty well. One 3 putt on the first hole when i was in a different zip code on the green than the pin and misjudged the speed of the uphill putt to the tune of 10' short. three one putts after that the longest was about 6'. Nobody in our group was making anything, the speed of the greens slowed as we played and the rain built up the moisture on the greens. I was able to at least tell the line of my putts was on target even though my speed was off. And the other players comments on the good looks of the putter and that I could pick up the ball with it too. So two positives from the initial use. Alf. S
Not a good week for me with the putter. Got a good stroke going when out on Monday course was busy so only played 12 holes. I noticed I was gripping down to the end of the grip so I shorten it from 35.5 to 34.5 for Tuesday's round and it didn't work the round was a disaster, 3 putting can't hole a putt outside 2 feet. With the end of season so close with a target still to be met decided to go back to my gamer until our last medal on the 24th. Had a bounce game on Thursday with my gamer and my setup was out and again 37 putts. Worked on my setup Friday and before I went out today and back on track for the medal, although 35 putts I had a lot of long good 2 putts. cnosil, ejgaudette, fixyurdivot and 2 others 5 Quote WIMB Driver Callaway Epic 10.5' Fujikura Stiff 3W Callaway Epic 15' Fujikura Stiff 3-AW Srixon Z565 Nippon Stiff 52', 56' Cleveland RTX 585 Wedges Putter Taylormade Rosa Daytona Bags 2017 Callaway Org14 Cart bag or 2018 Srixon Z start Carry bag
Shapotomous
The Fetch was turned loose yesterday for another round while I was at Indian Valley CC. Once again I was very happy with getting the ball on the line I had chosen. The two other variables, reading the green and getting the speed correct took about 6 holes to get dialed in. I was missing on the high side as they were faster than the practice green and I was reading too much break. From the 6th hole on I had five 1 putts, three were 4' or under from two bunker shots & a good chip and two were about 15' . Only 1 three putt but that was a 70'er and I was on the upper tier putting downhill to a pin position on the front & rolled that guy off the false front of the green! I used it a few times off the fringe to see how the hole played. I thought it may catch some grass blades on the edge of the hole but it didn't have any effect on the stroke. ejgaudette
On 10/17/2020 at 4:11 PM, Alf. S said: Not a good week for me with the putter. Glad you are figuring it out. I find chocking down a bit helps me out, gets the arms a bit more pendulum like, just a personal preference. Also had to quote this as I love the inclusion of the chart. Tarheelvolvo
Stopped by my local shop yesterday and tried out a Heppler Anser 2. I currently game an Anser 2 from ~1997/8 and have tried a few different putters over the years but nothing felt and sounded as good as my OG...until yesterday. I am eagerly awaiting the reviews and will certainly be following this thread as I might be switching soon, haha. Loved the feel, weight, and design. Made me more deliberate with my stroke, the contrasting colors stood out nicely and allowed me to line up the putts better, and the sound was perfect to my ears - but I am severely biased at this point, haha. Keep the testing updates coming guys! ALSO! Does anyone have experience with Ping Vault 2.0 Putters? Would love to hear about comparisons between the Vault 2.0 vs. Heppler Edited October 22, 2020 by Tarheelvolvo Added Question HardcoreLooper, MyWifesSwingCoach, Alf. Shapotomous
I had a good gate drill practice session this morning in the backyard. The backyard green is mostly flat & has straight putts which is good for doing these type drills. I am headed to the course for 9 later today and then I'll write up the final pieces to my review As a preview I find the Fetch is easy for me to keep aligned and the putts on the line i pick. I have noticed the times i used it on the course two other aspects of putting, reading the break and speed control have been lacking a bit, with the reading the break being worse. It's nice to have one piece of the puzzle under control.
