Summarize your season in five words

For those of us who live in the four seasons regions of the world, the golf season is drawing near its end (sooner for some of us than others). So this is a good time for a season in review--a season that for most of us was disrupted, to one degree or another, by the COVID measures.

But I wanted to put a small twist on the "year in review" thread: you need to summarize your golf season in five words or less.

I'll go first: Incremental improvement.

How would you summarize your season?

I gotta stop hoin’ and start playing the equipment that allows me to play my best!  It is just so much fun trying new stuff! Lol

All over the map, but (enjoyable nonetheless). 2nd lowest round in 56 years***, and some truly brain dead rounds - that’s golf? If I ever learn to hit more fairways, I’ll be thrilled. As always, the equipment is not the problem. Fortunately I moved to an area where I can play year round, no more golf “season” like the 26 years prior.

*** My best score ever was 47 years ago, so hang in there you older players!

He will have that over me probably forever. And then a few years after that.

That's something I've definitely got to work on, mistakes seem to multiply lately and kill my mental game. Just need to learn to relax and shrug the mistakes off.

Can't buy a tee game.

Maybe that's just recent frustration talking, but I just feel like I could have scored much better this year had I been able to consistently get off the tee. My iron play is vastly improved, but when you're hitting 3 off the tee on what feels like nearly every driver hole... it's frustrating. I don't want to give up on it because c'mon - biggest damn face out of any club in the bag. Just have to find those repeatable feels but I'm running out of time to do that this season.

Crucial lesson IMO. I know too many people who’ll let one bad shot or one bad hole lead to more. Every shot is an independent event, has nothing to do with the preceding shot. You can have your best shot in a round after a bad one, IF you approach every shot that way. Took me years to learn, but it improves scoring (and enjoyment) considerably. These days I shrug off, even chuckle sometimes at bad shots.
