I have played a raw wedge in the past and just love the look and confidence it provides me when hitting shots.  The real appeal for me is when I have a nice worn spot on the bounce and face of the club.

Raw wedges give me more confidence that the ball will stop, even if the spin numbers don't corroborate that story. I sometimes lack the conviction to play short shots with speed in my swing and there is something about a little rust that imbues confidence.

I practice many hours a week on the range, and that will quickly wear the finish and grooves down. I feel with a raw wedge, the grooves would wear down less quickly, and the rust will make up for what is lost. I also like it because it has no sun glare.

The natural patina and potential associated spin ratings because of the rust. Currently play satin chrome wedges so I’d love to see the difference between the two conditions of metals. Additionally, the satin chrome can be a little distracting at address so it would be nice to see if that affects how I play my wedges.
