It's definitely an intriguing product. I hope they'll take this fitted version out to the course. I'd love to see Matt try to find fairway with it and see how his approach distances change.

Two years ago I was set-up to try their first US release. I was going to be in Orlando and got in-touch with the rep. She and I had a date and time set, but due to meeting/work issues, I had to cancel. It would be pretty cool to try this one, but it’s very clear that one better have an exceptional fitter to be able to really dial it in.

About the same time I posted this, a WRX thread was posted about "would you buy a $750 shaft". It went sideways real fast and is a sh*tshow now about the legitimacy of the TXG guys.

There is clearly something very interesting with that shaft. They mentioned others have thought something some non-newtonian properties so it stiffens the more your try to flex it. Would love to know more about how it works, but seems like that will remain a mystery for now.

Yes they have some good stuff, especially it seems everything is TX flex so someone with your swing speed would likely have some great finds.

It seems like many take the tactic of I can buy it an sell it for only a $100 loss so basically they paid 100 to demo the club for a couple rounds if they don't like it. Not a bad way to do it if you can get someone to buy your clubs and you really want to do some good on course testing. I am just not that confident I could get that money back each time.

I think its more that the new shiny thing comes a long and you convince yourself that it is the holy grail and you have to have it. Then you buy it, find its not the holy grail and then sell it so you can buy the next holy grail.

That is probably some of it too, thought not a bad test of a potential holy grail for only $100

I am sure there is some of that but i doubt that the majority are industry people. There are an absurd number of golf equipment addicts on WRX. I consider myself an addict, but not as bad as many of the folks over there. Like i see people buy a 9, a 10.5, and a 12 degree head all at once so they can determine which they like best (instead of just trying them out at the store).

I’ve got a friend testing one of these out now.  I hope to have a chance to swing it in the next week or two.  He says it’s a weird feel and can’t explain it.  Said he was definitely seeing increased distance and no dispersion issues on the range.  Hasn’t made it to the course yet which will be the tell all.

How do you spend that much money on a shaft and then not go immediately to the course?

How do you spend that much money on a shaft and then not go immediately to the course?

Because you put it through the paces on the range to learn the shaft characteristics and to see if it’s going to work.  No sense in wasting a round.
