Srixon marathon balls

Recommended Posts

In Canada they would be available at stores such as walmart, sportchek and canadian tire. Pretty sure they are just a simply 2 piece at $16 or so a dozen

Found a Srixon Marathon ball, but can’t find them on their web page.  What the heck is that kind of ball?  Where do you buy them?

I see them online at Rock Bottom Golf and PGA Superstore online. They are listed as 2017 year model for about $1 per ball in 15 packs for $15.

I would equate them to a Callaway Warbird or Titleist Velocity - 2 piece distance golf balls.

Golf is simple - people are complicated.

5w Taylormade SLDR S 19* - 220yd, Ping G2 5-U - 190-105, Maltby M+ 54* & MG 60* - 95-75, Evnroll ER8, Titleist 816 H1 4h 21*, Maltby 4 Hybrid Iron 24* - 210-200, Callaway XR16 8* - 235 carry

I'm in the UK and have been using Srixon 'Marathon Soft' for a while.  They are available here from a budget multi sports chain for £20 for a 2 dozen pack.  They seem to have come to some agreement to use the Srixon name on them.

Not great, but not bad as a cheap option, better than some budget balls I've tried, but the Costco Performance + (3 piece) is not a lot more expensive and has a eurethane cover so they may be a better option.    I am currently using my last dozen or so before I move on to the Inesis 900.

I wish we had access to the Inesis brand here in the US. I find them only available in select locations that are out of my area, and paying for shipping negates the savings.

They are available through amazon for $15 a pack. Srixon makes a good ball so that's probably a fair price.

It’s an “outing” ball for us. The guy who plays once or twice a year in a charity outing and buys them in the Pro Shop before the round.   I think its a 15 pack for $18 or something like that.

As others have said, a 2-piece distance ball.  Probably a step above a range ball.

One of my playing partners found one last week and put it into play after he'd lost a couple of his gamers.  He ended up making 3 birdies with it in a 7 hole stretch.  He also had a critical 3 putt with it that helped me win 5 skins.  I was playing with a 15 year old Pro V1 332.

I think balls matter, but it's as much mental.  Golfers are a superstitious bunch with their equipment, and believing you have the right equipment is almost as important as having the right equipment.

They are a low spinning distance ball. Great off the tee for high swing speed hitters who tend to hook or slice. They'll stick the green with a wedge due to high ball flight, not backspin. Their weakness is thus holding a green with a mid iron. They are not clicky when putting. Comparable to a Callaway Warbird in play, though I find the Marathon to be more durable. At a $1 to $1.30 a ball, they are a great value. Typically sold in 15 packs.
