After going over the Best Personal Launch Monitors Guide on the home page---Read It Here--for 2020 in great detail, I decided on the Rapsodo MLM.  It arrived this weekend, and I'll be dong lots of testing--ie playing around with it, the next several weeks.  Here's some intitial pics with several more updates to come.

Look at short game shots. 20-100 yards and how consistent it reports with real world numbers. If it is consistently off by some yardage I can live with that. If it is randomly off, then that is a huge issue.

To answer the White Elephant question that has already come up, right now it is only IOS compatible, and better with certain IOS models than others, more info on that to come very soon.  

The Android release is in the works now, and could happen by the end of the year or certainly early in 2021 according to information directly from Rapsodo.

I saw that as well. While MGS rated it highest, accuracy was the big issue...with all of them in this price range.

I really want a hitting net and something I can use to work on those distances. Basically the ExPutt for short game.

Maybe I'll make the wedge thing a test this afternoon if I can find a time when our practice green isn't too crowded, or if I can get out and find an empty hole or two on the course.

It gives clubhead speed, and with that smash factor. The real shortcoming is that it doesn’t provide spin numbers. According to rapsodo they’re working on adding it though.

thank you. what about impact location and dynamic loft? i’m assuming no, but figured i’d ask.

You are getting into high end type features. Use foot spray for impact location and if you are hitting into a net you can basically calculate dynamic loft by doing some math or setting up gates to establish launch windows.

yeah it was wishful thinking. i’m really considering picking the rapsodo up on amazon prime

It gives launch angle and direction. It also does shot tracer, records your swings, and can provide a gps overlay of all your shots at the range if your device is capable of allowing gps.

It gives you Launch Angle and Launch Direction.   
 

As Cnosil said below, you need to get into the $2,000 and up units to get things such as impact snd club path, face angle etc

winter set up is gonna be a mat and net in the garage so im pretty excited to have some data and feedback while hitting balls 

maybe a weekly trip to the heated driving range as well.

I made the mistake of letting our Super try it out.  1 hour later, my phone battery died

But his results do it more justice than mine would!  Its a screen shot as the site won’t load a .mov file

@Golfspy_CG2 clear something up for me...if the phone is sitting on the monitor behind the ball, shouldn’t the video angle be lined up with the ball flight? what sort of marvel studios movie magic is going on here?

Yeah.  I blame that on tbe model. I him lines up straight at one point.  But he kept shifting his alignment.

How does the auto club detection work? It’s supposed to pick up on different clubs somehow. Perhaps by length? Problem for our one length users if that is the case.

i watched a review where the guy flashed the sole of the club at the camera. maybe it picks up the number on the sole?
