CoolWhipGolfer
Hello All, I bought one of these when Peter Finch switched to the LAB putter. I had seen them online but had never given them a second thought until I watched his review. So I found one on line and put it in the bag. Notice, I did not get fit for this and it is the standard set up for loft and lie. After I bought the putter, I found this forum and began to read. Here is what I have noticed. I do not struggle with getting the ball to the hole. I feel more confident with 3- 6 foot putts, and long putts actually have a chance now. And my alignment is significantly better. My initial putting with this putter was not great but, I'm committed to it. My last outing was nine holes. I short sided myself and was left with about a 25 foot putt back up the hill. I made that putt and that's when the magic started to happen. For that round I had 5 one putts and 4 two putts. This is awesome for me. I average 32 putts a round. Normally I don't switch putter, but this year I went through 4 putters. My old three ball is illegal and now that I'm playing in a league, I have retired it. The one thing I can say as I have read this forum is that most people are talking about the putter. But let's not forget about the basics. Alignment, starting point and reading the green. I have realized from this forum and the putter, that I need to take my time and read the greens better. This has made all the world of difference(putter probably has something to do with it too LOL). No matter how much you practice, if you aren't reading the greens correctly for your pace of putting, then you wont make putts. ballplayer002003
Definitely the ugliest putters around, but I have seen so many reviews on these and how good they are I am intrigued. There is a used blade one for sale near me, it looks like a block of steel on a stick. I can see how the design of the 2.1 is supposed to help with controlling torque but the blade I can't see it. I think I would also opt for the 2.1 design as well. It will be interesting to follow along through the summer to see if you think the putter helped you or just your overall practice helped you more. He wanted me to be inside the line, and I wanted to stand up straighter because my back was getting sore when practicing, so the longer shaft worked for both of those. I had 14 putts today during my weekly 9-hole round, with one 3-putt on the first hole from barely on the green. Bad leave, bad read on the 2nd putt, etc etc. Whatever, I made up for it later. I like how point-and-shoot this putter feels for me, and I've stopped trying to use the line on the ball to line my putts up. I feel like my aim has improved, but I'm still working on distance control. It's probably strike-related. It really does feel hard to not hit the ball on the intended line though, so I like that part a lot. 5/9 1-putts yesterday, I can't really complain about that. 6 hours ago, ballplayer002003 said: What length putter were you using before this? I would like to stand up a bit more as well, but didn't know how that would throw off my sight line. I currently use a 34" putter. I have used anywhere from 33-35" in the past. Most-recently, my ER5 measured 33.5" from the sole of the putter, to the tip of the grip, but it was 33" according to Evnroll. I guess there's no industry standard for measuring putter length, so a 34" in one brand could differ from another one. The DF 2.1 measures 34.5" from the same points -- so an extra inch. I wanted to go up to 34" but Matt said that he would rather have players choke down than not have enough length. I'm not tall, 5'9" and I am all legs (short torso) so I don't know if that plays a part in why a longer putter seems to "fit" me and my stance? It's probably worthwhile for you to just submit a video to them, even if it's just some "free" analysis for you. I had no idea my eyes were over the ball, and what "feels" very inside of the line, is basically right on it when I do the ball-drop test. yungkory
My last 4 rounds with the putter in order of most recent to oldest at the bottom: 28 putts (18 holes, 0-putt on 17 #ace) shot a 4-over 75 15 putts (9 holes) 1-over 38 15 putts (9 holes) 4-over 41 17 putts (9 holes, 1 really bad 3-putt) 1-under 36 Previous 4 rounds with old putter: 17 putts (9 holes) 7-over 44 16 putts (9 holes) 2-over 39 17 putts (9 holes) 1-over 38 18 putts (9 holes) 7-over 44 It's hard to determine whether or not the putter is helping me shoot better scores, but I am noticing a down-tick in total putts per round. I wasn't really tracking proximity to hole before I bagged the DF 2.1, I'm still not doing it in any type of scientific way, but I can assure you it isn't magically better to the point where these are all suddenly tap-ins. Like I had mentioned previously, if it helps me sink more putts that I deem as "make-able" then I would be happy, and so far in this honeymoon period, that is true. Before I get another comment about how you should think you can make every putt, in 2019 Wyndham Clark was #1 from 5-10' with a 67% success rate. edingc
We're still at least eight weeks away from playing golf again here in the frozen tundra, but I've been diligently practicing with my L.A.B. and the EXPUTT. I went through a few weeks of having a lot of start line issues, but determined I was playing the ball too far forward in my stance. Keeping the white line that runs down the middle of the Press II grip pointed at my belly button seems to have straightened that out. I had a really good session last night from 0-30 feet: I was looking back through my Arccos data from last season and you can see a pretty strong dip in my putting handicap after I acquired the DF 2.1: PMookie 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. juspoole
Just sent in a vid for remote fitting. They also have a registered fitter near me which I would go in person if I decide to take the plunge. Have not been able to try it before since no one has had a left handed putter in stock to try. I feel like I am a fairly good putter currently, but do not make as many as I should inside of 10 feet. Also 3-5 feet, I'm not as confident as I should be in my opinion. Hollis
I am loving mi line so far. Only played 2 rounds with it but at least 10 different practice sessions with it. I was almost scared to take it with me during a round at first but that is fine now and will be my gamer for the year. The confidence on short putts is crazy good right now. When I first got it it was my biggest gripe as I pulled so many 4 and 5 footers, but once I dialed in the ball position in my stance, it’s now so confidence inspiring from short range. Even 10 footers feel like I “should” make them and leave me feeling disappointed I didn’t, instead of “just get it close for the next one” kind of feeling. loving it so far. Still early and in full honeymoon phase for sure. I struggled with where to place my thumbs for a bit bc the “thumbs off” idea didn’t work for me. But feel like I have a grip I can use now. edingc
Played my first "real" round of golf since last November today and the L.A.B. picked up right where it left off: I had 28 putts today. It was a good short game day all around and I only hit five greens, so the total number of putts should be low. However, I had seven one-putts, which is outrageous for me regardless of my short game. I had three legitimate birdie putts, and I just missed each of them, including lipping out my 18-foot birdie attempt on 18. My distance control was superb, and that's been the biggest change since acquiring the L.A.B. I had one awful mishit from 50 feet that led to a three-putt, but altogether it was a very successful distance control day. I shot an 83 and the L.A.B. was a big reason for that, rescuing pars from outside of 15 feet twice, and saving a bogey on an awfully-played hole with a 20-foot "chip" from the fringe. I mentioned this in my review, but I'll say it again: No other piece of equipment has made such a drastic impact on my game in a short time period as the L.A.B. It has completely transformed my putting. GolfSpy BOS
I mentioned this is my review, but I'll say it again: No other piece of equipment has made such a drastic impact on my game in a short time period as the L.A.B. It has completely transformed my putting. Wow that’s awesome! I’m glad you found such a great fit and now have that confidence in your putter you were looking for. edingc 1 Quote Epic Max LS 10.5 - Motore X F3 6X | Speedzone 5-wood - Ventus Blue 8S | TSi3 20* Hybrid - KBS Proto 85S SMS Pro 4-PW - Steelfiber i110S | MG3 Raw Black 50.09, 54.11, 58.11 - DG TI S200 ER2B | Pro V1x | NX9 Slope | Jones Trouper R | CaddyLite EZ v8
ELEL13
Like edingc, played my first round of the season, and my first using the LAB DF. Wow. I’ve been following this thread closely, and practicing at home using all the tips here (thumbs off to the side, playing it slightly forward in my stance). I’ve used an Odyssey 2-ball for a decade, and it’s been fine. But having never used this outside, my distance control was so much better immediately, and I was making 10 footers all day (not that I had many given how close my initial putt was going. Looking forward to the season. Only issue frankly is the putter cover is so huge that it’s taking up too much room in my bag when I walk. Is it crazy to keep the putter cover off when I’m carrying the bag walking? yungkory and edingc

I walk, but use a push cart and a cart bag with a big putter well. So the head cover size of not an issue for me. I'm sure the anodizing will nick and scratch without the cover, but if you're good with that, no, I don't think it would be an issue to not use a head cover. My only concern would be if the horizontally milled face lines took on bag chatter. Aluminum is very soft so everything can damage it. Josh Ross
I got out for a real round yesterday and after a bunch of carpet putting at home the L.A.B was amazing for me as well. I really enjoy putting with that thing. edingc, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, Tom D. and 1 other 4 Quote In my Lux XV Cart Bag: Driver: RADSPEED XB PTC 10.5° Fujikura Speeder Evolution 661 VII Stiff Utility: Apex UW 17° and 19° Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 70 6.0 4 Hybrid: KING LTDx 21° KBS PGI 85 Stiff Irons: ZX5/ZX7 Project X LZ 6.0 Wedges: 2.0 49°, 53°, 57° Project X LZ 6.0 Putter: L.A.B. yungkory
29 putts for me today. Anything 6 feet and in was just automatic. Unfortunately I had a 7' for birdie and lipped it out haha. dlow206
I may be considering going back to a DF 2.1 in the future.
