A lot of the Hickory dudes use them... frown what I’ve gathered anyways.

Make sense with them being so soft, I figure its easier to crack a wooden head with the hardness of some other balls out there.

Even going to play on a course originally built by Donald Ross in 1916. Do I get bonus points for playing on an old course?

Woodlands?  Or Sewell's Point?  Haven't played Woodlands in over 20 years, and I've never played Sewell's Point (they didn't allow public play back when I lived in Norfolk).

In terms of balls, what do you guys think about the Wilson Duo Soft? Could those be a modern day equivalent of the older ball in terms of compression?

Those should work.  I just got a double-dozen Wilson Zips.  Zero-compression core.  Gotta be squishy.

I played a quick round last night to get some feel.  I forgot how good those Apex 4 shafts feel.  And my grandfather's Titleist driver outperformed the Sounder (a little bit lighter, with a softer shaft in it).  Next up I'll need to try out the Hogan.

That Zebra putter is definitely... lively.  The ball really leaps off the face.

The Grinds and the Medallions are en route from the same collector. And yes, both with Apex 4 shafts.

I took a trip to the range today and got some practice with my regular set and brought a couple of my classics to make sure I can still hit them. I took a short (8), a mid (5), and a long (2) iron along with the driver. I hit a few a little heavy, but they still have to be the most accurate clubs I own. The 2 iron off the tee might be a go to if the driver acts up, and I actually hit driver better today than ever. I had a few just die out of the air, but with range balls I didn't expect much. I'm hoping the Wilson Zips will spin more off of it.

It's not the best video I've done, but here's a couple of swings of the 2 iron off the tee today. The last one I tried getting it with the selfie video camera, so it's backward. To quote Inigo Montoya "I am not left handed". I wish I would have took my tripod or had the wife along manning the camera.

Nice work!  Here is my entry for the 2 iron stinger.  I probably won’t be able to get a whole bag, but I will take this thing out in the course for a hole or two.

OHHHHH! Decisions decisions like DJ there. Let see to make it fair since I play those every day no Machogans or Muirfield Hogans. HMMMMM Can play the 54 Precisions or even the 41 Tommy Armours with pyratone shafts. Woods John Smalls can testify he saw about 1/3 of the stash. Let my back heal up some. HMMM may play one of the sets of FC-4000s. Putter will be either a Ironmaster , Bulls Eye or maybe my hickory shafted Otey Chrisman Calamity Jane. I have 1 dozen brand new PGA brand balata balls or a dozen new Maxfli Elite wound 90s. Like I said decisions decisions!!!

I did a quick look through the shag bag and a couple buckets and came up with two Professional 90's, a Professional 100 and quite a few of the earliest Prov1 392's.  There are also a few of the DT Wound 90's but I am not sure if they are older than the ProV's or not.  I would bet some of the Top Flites that were in those buckets are just as old as the Professional 90's but I don't know how to confirm it.

Yep the DT 90s are older than the 392s. The 392s IMHO were the best of the Pro Vs--- Come to think of it I have 9 brand new ones in the top of the closet.

Went to the local used club store to see if they had any classic blades.  They had a few sets but way above what I wanted to pay such as Hogans, Wilson Staff, and MacGregor and none of the bargain blades that I they had previously.   Guess I am going to have to do a thrift store run to see if I can put together a cheap set.

For next year would a set of KZG blades work. @deejaid sold them to me I think they were from the early 90s if I remember right

This is one I'll have to bow to the collective knowledge of some of our fellow competitors. I've heard of KZG, but I haven't been able to date their products. All the information I can find on them so far is that they make great clubs. So, if anyone with information world like to chime in, I would appreciate it.
