I am looking to upgrade my irons.  Was looking at the new Taylormade P770’s.  Has anyone played these?  
 

Also does anyone have any irons suggestions.  I am a 6 and prefer a players iron look.

There are a lot of great options out there depending on what you are looking for. The P770 fall in the players distance iron category along with many others such as Callaway Apex, Ping I500, Cobra Forged Tec, Titleist T200s, Sub70 699 Pro. Mizuno 921 Forged, and many more. There are then some that are just a bit less forgiving generally, T100 the new CB from Callaway and maybe even the new Cobra King Tour irons. Of course some a bit more forgiving such as Mizuno HM Pro, Sub70 699 and many more. The best advice many will share is to go get fit. As you can see there are tons of options here so its tough to know which would work best for you. A good fitter should really help you narrow this down. Good luck on the new clubs.

My first response when I see a bag like this: this is a guy who found the 3W that works for him, and he'll give it up the day the head falls off and not a moment sooner. Is this correct?

Second, welcome aboard, there have been plenty of iron tests this year for you to peep in the Review forum. People have gone for Hogan, Titleist, and Sub 70 in the space you're looking.

Most wanted Players iron results will be out on Monday. P770 is part of that test. I have only hit them as part of most wanted testing but will say they are long and are nice.

After this years most wanted testing I am becoming a Honma fanboy, highly recommend looking at their clubs. Other favorites were the srixon 785s which are being replaced next year, T100, and New Level.

Ultimately you need to hit the clubs and try different shafts to see what works for you.

If it isn't broken don't fix it! But if you can gain distance, walk away.

That is the old reliable in my bag.  It has been such a go to for reaching par 5’s in 2 and placing shots on short par 4’s that I have had a hard time getting rid of it.  It’s a mental game and I have a lot of good thoughts when that club is in my hands.  The new tech will lure me away eventually, but nothing has wowed me yet.

I highly suggest and recommend that you look at Titleist T100S irons. I have played the TaylorMade P790 irons for the last several years, but the Titleist are great irons with a lot softer feel.
