We've had a crazy bit of heat here in the Twin Cities, courses are opening.  I will be playing Sunday at midday.

Giving some thought to nabbing a package of the v2 3pc, since I will likely be in less than top form.  Much easier to deal with losing a few balls at this price than the $35/doz level of the Duo Pros I have lined up for 2021....

... This is why PRACTICE balls are such a great option. I also play them for some normal rounds but at $19.99 a dozen compared to $47-49 new it never hurts too much when I lose one into a desert thorn tree just off the fairway. I learned to just leave them in there instead of trying to pull it out with a club because they all have crazy thorns that tear your clothes. With little water these desert plants really know how to protect themselves. 🤪

Yes they are.  😁

I played a scramble last year, I used to grab some cheaper balls for tee shots, didn't have to, as I'd picked up some of the TP5 Practice balls.

For which I thank you.  <bowing>    It was your post that turned me on to that deal.

They play a lot difference on course than they do on mats. The bounce is pretty heavy

How do you find them in comparison to the non-practice? I've heard they're near-identical or basically "seconds"

... Exactly the same ball. They are cosmetic seconds only, so a thicker or thinner ink, crooked print kind of problem.

Gotcha. I used to play with some Callaway x-outs. They had really minor imperfections and I wasn't good enough to care at the time. Where do you get yours typically? I recently gave the TP5 a shot and like it so far. I've had mixed results  getting seconds for other brands.

I'm working through my stock of K-sig but once I'm done these sound like a better option. Love the K-sigs but they spin a bit too much off my driver and on a windy day it's impossible to control for me. I know that you can't play with them for tournaments, but otherwise good to go.

Kinda late to this but I will add---week before last I played in our weekly Shootout--- My regular team was split up due to 2 of the guys having guests. I was pared up with a fellow member who is a nice guy but not that good of a player and 2 out of towners who could not play a lick. So basically I knew we could not win but used it per say as a test and tune on my game

My fellow member had some new Kirklands he had just picked up Friday. Our 18th hole is a par 5 and was playing 3 shots anyhow. That green is notiorious for being as hard as a night in the county jail. We were about 60 yards out and we did have a ball on the green. I told my partner slip me one of those Kirklands. I took the 56* and turned the face open and launched it up. That Kirkland spun and checked up great. I was well impressed it checked as good as the Q Star I was playing. I had played 3 of the original ones when they came out. You could not find them in this area but a bud of mine in Fla sent me a sleeve. I actually picked up yardage with them and they were great off the putter and wedges. In fact if you go back on the original Kirkland thread here you can find where I questioned the legality of the ball. I may get him to pick me up some since I am not a Costco member just to try

It would be nice if they didn't print "practice" on them.  But then, when I really think about it, I'm practicing every time I play, so to heck with the stigma 🙂.

Yep, thanks I scoped them last night. I had about 4 packs in my cart and then said wait a minute let me look in my closet. 5 new boxes later I sheepishly closed my laptop and held off. They don't seem to have practice or x-out triple track Chrome Soft X or LS (may have bought a triple track putter on a whim last night 🤪).

KSig balls and anything 8i or under are a match made in heaven if you have even moderate spin. They stick to greens and even suck back if you're coming in hot. It's the rest of the game that's a little less predictable, and the internal quality/consistency which drops them a shelf. Take a look at the ball-lab comparison MGS did-- really interesting stuff.

I just draw my alignment line across the "practice"

Yep I concur. The balls are exactly the same. I found a few with crooked TP5 or Taylormade logos or with some ink missing on the triangles ( I play the TP5 Pix). Performance wise I dont think it is any different from new.

I generate a lot of spin on the 8 iron through wedges anyhow due to the fact I am a little more handsy on short irons and I also have a self designed and taught out to in swing.  It gets really violent with a balata ball they will hit spin right and then back
