Shank Aaron Posted November 11, 2020 Share Posted November 11, 2020 After doing some shopping, and watching a couple of DIY videos I decided I was going to build one of these instead of paying $100. I started with a 2" soft carbon steel rod and turned it down to a manageable size in prep for weighting. I got on Amazon and did some searching for a laser pointer and found what I needed for $15.99 ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BPYEAKA/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_60aRFbEKRS0JJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc= ) and pulled the trigger, at the same time I ordered some 10-24 soft tipped set screws from my local Fastenal (pictured). Once both parts were delivered I did the measurements and started boring, drilling, and tapping. After installing a roll pin in the center as a stopper between the laser and the shaft tip (that also acts as a on/off stop for the laser) I started adjusting the rod for proper weighting (220 grams). It took longer for the laser to get here than it did to actually build this thing, but through 2 iron sets and about 15 driver/wood/hybrid builds it has held up brilliantly.
