AH1980MN
I'm curious if this exists- do any of you spies know of a place that will do a custom grind/refinish on clubs? MNUte
I haven't heard of it. But I'm curious if people would be interested in such a service and why? If you're buying a specific grinded wedge, why would you want to change it? Swing change over time? I can understand the refinish, but the grind is the part that I just don't see. AH1980MN
Perhaps the grind you want isn't offered and you prefer your wedges to match- or you like everything else about them, but need a little more heel relief, etc. MNUte and Shapotomous 2 Quote WITB: Adams 9064LS 9.5* (until I cracked the face) Adams Super LS 17* Adams XTD Ti 23* Wilson Staff Ci7 4-PW Adams wedges: 52/7 56/13 60/7 Wilson Staff Infinite Southside putter/Odyssey DualForce 660 putter
Kenny B
Pros used to grind their own wedges. You could do that, then send to Golfworks for refinishing. RookieBlue7
Lots of clubmakers offer the service, just don’t advertise it per se. There’s not a huge demand for it but there are folks that are skilled out there that offer it still. I wanted a bit more heel relief on my old Cleveland wedges so I used the belt sander and after a few iterations eventually got it where I wanted. Messing with them is one reason I buy older raw wedges. I don't worry about the finish and they are cheap enough that if I go too far with a grind I don't stress about a $20 club, I just find another. JalanK
If there is a competent club fitter club maker in your area, he should be able to provide what you want. Call or visit him and bring your clubs when you go. He can determine what you might need and do the work. Turn around time should be pretty quick. Otherwise, contact the manufacturer of your clubs and ask for their recommendations. Note: I see you live in the Mpls area. Go see Stan Steuter at Golf Club Hospital on 43rd and Bryant Ave. S. www.golfclubhospital.com. He's the best in this area. Rtracymog
Most local shops have a guy. On Facebook I see a guy doing refinishing and grinding and the results look amazing. jaskanski
It's pretty easy to experiment on a few beat up wedges yourself. But then again, there are so many options out there off the shelf these days, it's not really that hard to pick an option to suit your needs either. The only obstacle seems to be blindly following brand loyalty.

cardia10
The grinding part is the simple part on an otr wedge. The hard part is adding back all the weight you just lost by just using lead tape. There is a reason why custom wedge companies get raw forgings much heavier than the finished product.
