Testers ANNOUNCED: Top Flite Gamer Golf Balls

Recommended Posts

Titleist ProV1

I used Top Flight balls when I first started playing, just because they were cheap and easily accessible. At that point I wasn't consistent enough of a player to really tell the difference between different balls. In recent years I don't know if I've used a Top Flight ball. But I'm definitely willing to give it a try and see how it stacks up to my current ball.

Pro v1

My experiences with Top Flite balls have been good. I have played with both the XL and Bomb and the most notable differences  between them and the Pro V! is the spin around the greens and the putting feel. The Pro V1 has the clear advantage over the 2 Top Flite balls that I previously played with in those 2 categories. I would love to try the new Top Flite Gamer.

I currently play mostly Pro V1 and Pro V1X.

My past experience with Top Flite golf balls is pretty extensive. I would play whatever I could find and afford, and most of the time that was Top Flite XL 2000. Compared to the balls I play now, I remember them being very firm with very little loft or spin. I would be very interested to see if these live up to the hype.

Srixon XV

Played Top Flite from 88-96 as a Junior for that extra length off the tee. Switched to Titleist in the mid 90's then went to Srixon when the XV came out. Finding Top Flites in the bushes always brings back fond memories of my Junior days in AZ.. would love to try the new rocks to see how they compare to the Srixons!

Top Flite D2+ Feel

I have played the Top Flite D2+ Feel ball for about a year now. Previously I had played Callaway Warbird, Supersoft, and Superhot balls. The Callaway Supersoft, and Superhot scuffed so easily, which is why I went with the Warbirds originally.I started with the Top Flites when Dick's had them for real cheap, like $7 for 15 balls. I was amazed at how well the balls played compared to the Callaways and how durable the cover is. I am a 20 handicapped 64 year old. It would be interesting to see how a "higher quality" Top Flite ball does for me.

Testers Wanted

The title of this testing opportunity already told you what ball is being tested.  But if it had been a blind test and we were to have listed the following aspects of this ball, how many would have guessed it was for a Top Flite Ball?

  • 3-piece construction blends feel, control and distance.
  • Dimple in Dimple Aerodynamics help maintain lift to generate maximum carry and distance
  • Soft, Ionomer cover provides elevated greenside control and improved touch
  • DuPont HPF mantle layer positioned between the core and cover reduces long game spin for accuracy
  • Larger, high-speed core construction optimizes lower compression for softer feel and ultimate distance off the tee
  • Combination of the re-engineered core, mantle layer and cover formulation elevates playability

Long gone are the days of being referred to as Top Rock.  The Top Flite Gamer is a surprisingly nice feeling ball with some real get up and go distance.   Don't take our word for it, we want you to test it and report back on it.

I remember old Top Flite balls being like a rock. Synonymous to others like Pinnacle to me. Much more serious about golf since then.

First Name:  John

City/State:  Allentown, PA

Current Ball Played:  Varies, but mostly Srizon Q-Star Tour or Bridgestone B RX

Tell us your past experiences with any Top Flite ball:  In the late 80s I recall them being rock hard.  Did not play one then and have not until a couple of years ago when I found one on the course.  Actually liked it well enough.  Don't recall which model it was.  Then I got a sleeve in the "goodie bag" in a local charity tournament.  Liked it then too.  But never made the switch.

Other:  Play about 15 time a year.  Current Index of 7.  Lowest index was a 3.

TP5

Hey all! I will keep this one short and sweet. About a year ago all I would play was a Bridgestone e6, but have since graduated to the TP5 since it now gives me added benefit with an improved game.

A good friend only played top flite balls that he would purchase by the gallon, and we would always use the term RockFlite when speaking of them given their terrible feel and flight. He still plays them, which is the best part of it all. Thanks for the opportunity!
