Tarheelvolvo
Hey Guys, Does anyone have any hands on experience with the Sub 70 Pro fairway woods? The price is very attractive and I know the last test in 2019 ranked them pretty high, but hoping to find some real world experience. I need something to cover between my 10.5* driver and 21* 4i, so thinking a 15 or 16* wood might get me to those long par 5's in two Appreciate the insights! MattF
I haven't hit the pro, but I have the 939X and love it. Easy to hit off the deck and the tee. They do have a 60 day 100% refund guarantee, so you really don't have anything to lose. fixyurdivot and Tarheelvolvo 2 Quote In the bag: Driver: TSR2 Project X HZRDUS Black 5.5 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Alpha Convoy 514 Balls: Chrome Soft X Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! Brookers
If you go to the "Pre-Owned" section you can pick up a great deal on a slightly used club. I bought my 839D from there @ $169.99 in Excellent condition. It came with the head cover and an almost perfect looking club (you could tell it had been hit a few times). The only gotchya is you either like what they have (shaft etc) or are willing to pay for the change (I changed my grip to Dri-Tac). This is straight from their website: Quote Pro Fairway Lower Spin, Mid Launch, More Workable, Front/Rear Adjustable Weights 939X Fairway Adjustable Technology, Mid-High Launch, Low Center of Gravity, Game Improvement Design They have a new Pro Tour fairway that only comes in 14° and is 2° open. I'd stay away from that one and probably go with the Pro Fairway. They all come standard with the Evenflow Riptide shaft, which is very good. I saw a PRO that had a great shaft, similar to my driver, for $99 and it seemed too good to pass up, which is why I wanted to get some real-world feedback. Hmm, so maybe the 939x might be better...dang...too many decisions! And yeah, I would stay away from the Pro Tour...not my speed. I do like all the evenflow riptide shaft options, though, since I have an evenflow black on my driver right now. I'm ordering the 3H this week and having a similar debate. But I'm looking at the Riptide or going complete after market and getting the HZRDUS Smoke Black. I think I'm going to call Jason tomorrow and have a talk to him and go from there. I definitely want more of a mid/high ball flight trajectory with my hybrid, hence the reason I'm not considering the HZRDUS line. I have a note out to Jason to get his feedback - keep me posted on what you hear from him and I'll do the same. I have a riptide on my older FW and I greatly enjoy it! No experience with the other shaft, though, so can't give a direct comparison. If I buy another FW (which I still might this season), I'll definitely get the riptide again! I spoke to Jason yesterday (his cell number is on the Contact Us section of their website) and we spoke about the shaft. We have a similar swing speed and he advised that the Riptide is the way to go because it's a mid/high trajectory and the HZRDUS is a low. It works well in my driver but I need to get the hybrid in the air. I placed my order yesterday and should have it in hand next week. myherobobhope and Vegan_Golfer_PNW 2 Quote In the bag: Driver: TSR2 Project X HZRDUS Black 5.5 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Alpha Convoy 514 Balls: Chrome Soft X Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! myherobobhope
I haven’t hit the 3 wood... but I love sub70... they also have a great return policy and demo program. I just got the pro hybrid, but went with the pro force v2 shaft... its a long time favorite of mine. HeathS16
I know this thread hasn’t seen action in awhile but I updated my 5W this year to a Sub70 Pro. Evenflow riptide x-stiff… here is the on course performance last round: can’t complain with that performance! Avg is 250 through 3 rounds and I haven’t even hit it on the range yet! Go SUB70!
