knightsofnii
Did I just witness Adams become an infomercial brand? Tight Lies fairway wood commercial just felt way too much like the GX7 or XQL73WHO wedge or whatever it is. Are they still a subsidiary of Taylormade? Right after the current tightlies was launched, I read somewhere (Instagram comments, iirc) that a large part of success for Adams in the early days was selling through the infomercial side, so this latest release was supposed to be a nod to that past. heavygolffeels
Too bad what Taylormade did to Adams. Now using them to push for any market share they dont currently have. Smart of course, just sad to see. I dont think we are going to see another players club from Adams, and that was truly what they did so well. When the wife and I first saw the commercial on the GC I went to laughing hysterically ( helped on by Oxy) I told her I had one. She said what???? YOU gave $180 for a golf club. Remember she has been married to me 35 years and knows darn well I am NOT paying that much for any golf club. She thought I was as high as a kite. I told her yes I have one only it is 15 years old. Went to the front closet and pulled it out. It was my infamous "Ugly Duckling " 5 wood that I could smoke. I do not know why I pulled it out of the bag to begin with. But it is back in. knightsofnii
I had an Adams 5wood. I gave it to a friend a few yrs ago, I can't remember what model it was. Pretty sure it was from the 2010s decade. I still have an Adams Tom Watson 54deg wedge. It's more a decorative thing but I have gamed it. The grooves on it are super narrow. sirchunksalot and JohnSmalls 2 Quote RADspeed 10.5, Evenflow Riptide CB 6.0s Bio Cell 3/4w, PXV 6.0s; AMP 3h 19deg Aldila RIP R. But it's sad to see the greatest hybrid company ever not producing products anymore. And Taylormade isn't exactly recreating the traditional Adams peanut, pro, box style hybrids. Sure they bought and are using some of the tech, but its a completely different style. And they bought Adams 8 years ago now, so I'm not exactly holding my breath. Since ex Adams CEO Chip Brewer took over the same position at Callaway, they are putting out the more Adams like hybrid. The Apex is the best players hybrid put out in the last 5 years IMO. I've got 2 in the bag. And the Super Hybrid extends on the legacy of the Super LS and XTD hybrids (also in the bag). revkev
I don't know why I'm using italics but why not at this point!!!! This is certainly a return to where they started for Adams. I have no trouble with the informercial style advertising of this club. I gammed the original tight lies for a long time and hit a lot of great shots with it. That extra loft fit my game. I doubt that I will go with this one as I'm very good with 5 wood and that's what I was fit for as my longest wood. But good luck in this comeback attempt! Bigman
Bought the new Tight Lies 3 Wood this week. 10% off(Adams10off). Have been playing an old one for over 10 years and love it. Will be interesting to see how it performs. Used Ping and Taylor Made 3 Woods over the past several years, but always go back to the Tight Lies, found it a little more versatile. I'll give it a few weeks and let you know how it's working out. B_R_A_D_Y
