just looking at the Fp1 / FP2 data...  I feel like we should just get rid of the tier 1 driver choice as right now, it doesn't look like it is an actual choice. RB/Max look to be significantly ahead and should win the first few rounds pretty easily. It looks like RB has done a great job on the new platform to set them up for a repeat.

I mean I don't disagree, but Lewis is Lewis and Merc are Mercs and you never know how they will look come raceday. Last year was really similar and they were well on the back foot yet still ended up winning. This new regs and everything has been so interesting and entertaining. Can't wait for tomorrow nights qualifying!

I don't know that the platform allows, but even just removing max/lewis for the season would probably make it more fun.

If Max and Lewis are moved into a combined Tier A/B group, everyone will pick Max every week anyway. I don't know that it makes too much difference. And, if Merc improves over the first few races, everyone will be picking Lewis in addition to Max. I think we should leave as is.

I do admit that, even in FP3, the Mercs look better but still appear to have porpoising issues at some level. Maybe actually having sidepods would help

ESPN showed FP 1-3, but only has qualifying on espn3/news, which somehow my $200/month Comcast bill doesn't get.... I hate cable

We dumped cable a couple of years ago. Use primarily Hulu with Live TV for sports now. We actually have the Hulu/ESPN+/Disney+ package. So much live golf now...

Mags is in Q3. They just said he will come out and do a hot lap in Q3. Hopefully fixed. Sainz and Leclerc sitting on top of Q3 so far.

The new regs/cars and the surrounding uncertainty are already making this a very interesting season (an Alfa and a Haas in Q3 while no McLaren). Driving skill looks to be even more important. Four hours until showtime!

That, was a great race! Love the new aero package in how it let's them follow and pass. Won't say anything else as to not spoil for those of you who watch it later

Couldn't agree more. Love the action involved in the race and the volatility of how this years standings is likely going to look like race to race.

It will be more fun following this year. Porpoising still an issue somewhat but I’m sure they‘ll sort that. Good but uneventful race today, I’m sure a lot will change before the next race or so.

Wow! It all fell apart for Red Bull right at the end. Fun to see Leclerc and Sainz go well. The uncertainty is fantastic (but not for my Fantasy F1 team).

I'm not quite sure what you could have wanted for more eventful unless you were going for a Nascar style crash.

leclerc and verstappen has a great back and forth, cars could race with lots of passing throughout the field. haas got more points today then they did in the last 50 races! gasly caught fire, the red bulls died in the last 3 laps and Ferrari were a surprising dominate package. 

Mclaren(!) , Williams and Aston were bad. Merc obviously isn't contending for wins at the moment, but for a race, there was no discussion about race directors, stewards or anything really besides racing. I thought it was exciting and eventful.

The last thing I want is a crash - EVER.

LeClerc basically led from start to finish, the “back and forth” with Verstappen was three laps around lap 16. There were almost no lead changes among the top six, until the Red Bulls both died - that’s a sad gift to Mercedes. It was exciting for the last 7 laps or so, but pretty much a parade up front until then. My uneventful was a poor choice of words. I am really looking forward to this season, I’m sure they’ll all come up to speed on the new car quickly and we’ll have some great racing. There may well be a midfield shakeup, we’ll see.

And I wholeheartedly agree it was really nice to have no steward controversies! No one liked that, including the stewards or race director.

Ugh...found this thread a couple days too late.  If you open up the fantasy league to more than 10 next year I'll be in.  

Sunday's race was definitely promising as a preview for what is to be expected this year.  It looks like the racing is going to be much closer and the new regulations are going to give some of the midfield teams a real chance to score points.

I think there is still room, you'd just be a week down. Much like red bull....

Checko on pole! Fun qualifying. Hamilton out in Q1 was a huge shock. Tomorrow should be a blast!
