Do you think it was that great of a race? I fell asleep and woke up to see everything the exact same 30 minutes later, then with about 25 laps left I told Lys race was over unless something crazy happened which it didnt. 

I love Baku, truly is my favourite, but waiting 3 plus weeks for that race kinda feels like a bust to me.

To me it was, because this was the first full race I was able to watch this year.

But you are right in terms of action, it was very little, and the red bull 1 and 2 is definitely tiring, but unfortunately I don't think that it will change much for the season, the other teams are leaps behind their pace.

With the exception of red bull retiring due to break downs and accidents, I think the rest of the field is only fighting for 2nd on the constructors and 3rd on the driver's championships.

I would love to see the old guy Alonso be able to put a fight for the tittle, but realistically it won't happen.

I'm still happy to have watched the race.

On a side note, today is the 29th anniversary of Ratzenberger's death and tomorrow is Senna's.

Agreed. I’m just happy to see Ferrari finally get a podium finish.

But my goodness, yeah, to me it was a dud of a race. For Leclerc to go from just behind Max after the safety car restart, to 17+ secs behind by the end is just bonkers.

Just finished watching my recording of the race and have to say it might have been the most boring race of the entire season.  Hardly any overtakes at all.  Other than Redbull getting LeClair at the start and re-start there wasn't a single meaningful overtake until Stroll screwed up at turn 16 and Lewis got him.  Then there was nothing again until Lando finally got by Hulkenberg with a few laps to go (which the cameras didn't even catch live).  

The most exciting part of the entire race was listening to the commentators at the end and waiting for the cameras to pan to the pitlane to see if Ocon was going to hit any pedestrians at 80 mph or whatever.

With that much money, I am buying me an MP4/4 and an 92 Mclaren F1 and a 90s F40, those are the cars my dreams are made of.

One other take away from the weekend for me was I no longer think Max has matured as much as I thought he had in 2022.  Hearing him whine and complain about the minor contact he had with Russell during the sprint just showed to me that he is still a whiny impetulant b*#ch.  He dive bombed down the inside of Lewis a dozen times late that season with no hope of ever staying on the racing line or even the track in some cases and had no problem with his own actions but when Russell does it to him, where they were both able to make the corner and stay on the track mind you, he loses his mind because of minor contact.  

It's one thing to be upset and make a statement over the radio but it's another to still be whining about it laps later and then confront Russell about it after the race.   He's been groomed to say the right things in front of the camera but I genuinely believe he thinks he's entitled to race wins because what he's accomplished at such a young age.  The guy is immensely talented and if he races long enough he will go down as one of the greatest ever but he is a really unlikable person to me.

I watched it, it was OK, but still nobody has a car that can challenge the red bulls.

At least wit Max starting in 9th we had a little overtaking action to watch.

Formula One is the only kind of auto racing which I can enjoy watching, 

BUT

I'd rather a motorcar manufacturer were leading the pack

rather than an energy drink team.  

If they called themselves "Honda" [I think that's their engine maker] instead of Red Bull, that would be more palatable.

I watched. Max's run through the pack and the uncertainty, for a while, of whether Checo could hold him off was the most excitement. I did find Fernando checking out the big screen during the race, seeing Lance's move, and supporting him over the radio hilariously awesome!

Outside of Ferrari and more recently McLaren, none of the F1 teams really have a huge affiliation with the manufacturer whose name is on the team.  They are run as their own companies and they get money from the car company side to put their name on the car.  These F1 teams all make money, the ones currently on the grid at least.  

I was unimpressed by the Miami race, overall it was extremely boring.  Never want to see anyone get hurt, but I wish something had happened that would have brought out a safety car to stir things up a little.  Probably wouldn't have mattered at all anyway as Redbull is unstoppable this year.  The FIA should have definitely given them a bigger penalty for violating the cost cap as this 10% reduction in wind tunnel time is essentially meaningless, they will have both titles wrapped up long before they hit what would have been that last 10%.   

Still plan on going to a race in the next year or two and I can guarantee that it won't be Miami....and probably not Vegas either.  Holding my breath the latter will be better but I definitely want to go see a good race with real race fans and not some spectacle that is all just hype around tik tok influencers, Vin Diesel and other mega celebrities.  I found it hilarious that Martin Brundle said on air that he spotted Tom Cruise but had been told specifically that he wasn't allowed to talk to him.  I have a feeling Vegas is going to be very similar.  I'll probably go to Austin but I suppose the Quebec race could be another option.

Bummer about Imola, was very excited to see the updates. Specifically the Merc

Will be interesting to see if teams still roll out the new updates at Monaco. I wouldn't think they'd get much useful data (for the rest of the season) at Monaco, and the margin for error is so so small there. 

I don't care how boring the race is at Monaco, i can't wait for it. Every year i'm amazed just watching the cars zip around that track.

That was one of thing I was looking forward too, I wanted to see if anyone has any updates that can help and challenge the RBs, I read that Toto had said that their updates were not going to be like magic and shave a .5 second, but still it was a new starting point.

Alonso teasing that the had something special coming, and that the Imola, Monaco and Barcelona stretch would be giving Aston actually chances to win did really get me excited, I guess we get to see it all in Monaco in a couple of weeks.

Welcome aboard, it is a small part of the MGS community, but we all have an appreciation for F1 on this sub.

Also it is late now, but we do have an F1 fantasy league.

You got to pick 5 drivers per race , there are drivers rated A, B C and D, so you get 1 Driver A, 2 Bs, 1 C and 1 D.

The ending positions on that race gives each driver an amount of points and at the end of the season the most points win.

I used to be a big, big F1 fan in the early-to-mid 2000's. After talking to @GolfSpy_APH a bit last fall about how he got into F1, I watched Drive to Survive. It was good for me since so many of the drivers/teams/principals have changed since I was into it. For example Williams was a very good team back then with Ralf Schumacher (Michael's brother/Mick's uncle) and Juan Pablo Montoya. The two top teams were Ferrari and McLaren/Mercedes.

One thing I really miss is the sound of that era - V10's turning nearly 20000 rpms was ridiculous. I remember being on the front straight at Indy for the start and thinking my ears were going to bleed as the 20 cars launched.

If you've never seen it, there was a fun show on the old Speed channel were Jeff Gordon and Juan Montoya traded cars on the Indy road course. 

There was also one where Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart did the same thing at Watkins Glen.

Lewis seemed to really enjoy driving a car that wasn't planted by aerodynamics.

And for Max to gain those seconds back all via the 3rd sector is just wild. When they showed his + splits behind Alonso for sectors 1 and 2, I thought for sure it was over.

That was an wild last two minutes of qualifying, I'm here hoping that Alonso can get the lead at some point and force max to really fight for the win. With only one Drs zone, I think that aston has a great chance to keep pace with rb.

Regardless of the outcome it was a great qualifying session.

To be fair Max holding on to those mediums for só long was actually very impressive, and Aston Martin did not do any favors for Alonso.

I'm surprised that the late rain did not cause the safety car to be deployed due to a harder accident.

To Barcelona now and to see how the changes the teams have implemented this week, will do on a faster track.

Pretty crazy how much drama the rain the caused in the race, and yet it really didn't affect the outcome at all. It definitely spiced up a typically boring Monaco though. Need charles' to get a new race engineer. Feels like Xavi has a huge blunder every race weekend
