Here's the video of me taking the Spornia down and packing it up.

Also, @B.Boston while I didn't take a photo of the thickness of the target I did look and noticed it's fairly thin. That's not to say it won't hold up, because it seems to really envelop the ball and not take the brunt of the impact.

This was awesome!  Thanks for showing that, seems like 1.  It’s been well designed as far as setting up and taking down. 2. Seems like it has a good amount of heft to it, looks and sounds like some heavy weight and high quality materials.

Hopefully you guys will find that they hold up well.  If I get a net I’d like something that can be fairly easy to set up and take down as I wouldn’t have a permanent spot anywhere in my yard.

Thank you! It's definitely well made, I typed topped a 5 wood so bad today that it hit the rail closest to my feet and held up well. I see more shots like that in its future. Hopefully not, I don't like abusing equipment like that.

I think setup and take down will get quicker as I go along, just got to get the practice in with it.

I really like the fact it has separate poles. I have an older Callaway net that will hurt you. I release the strap and hold it closed. Find a clear area and toss it. It springs open pretty violently. Closing it is even worse. For the most part it sits closed in the garage.

That sounds like it was poorly designed. I really don't blame you for not using it, I don't think the risk of impalement would be worth it. I think the safety designs and features in this one are great. The roof addition is a nice touch to catch high wedge shots and keep from hitting a ball somewhere you don't want to.

Looking on the FedEx website, the Dura Pro hitting mat is supposed to be delivered today. So far, USPS and UPS have been to my house. 47cc5144ccfd6c272138454742257dd5.gif.a4904654de51d375f5de8d426cdddbde.gif

Ah you see for me FedEx has the earliest deliveries, then USPS, and UPS always shows up between 7-930PM after the kids go to sleep so my dogs can bark and wake them up.

My dogs are absolutely spazzing out right now. I think they believe the delivery drivers are out to kill them, or at least steal their treats.

Agreed! Even when she hears a truck coming, she’s going nuts!

Today was wedge only, I've been struggling to make good contact and wanted to get some reps in. These guys were hanging around because of how terrible my short game is, waiting.20201222_154121-01.jpeg.d64c584aec916f832e61cd0fe1ca2ff3.jpeg

I've brought the Planemate back out to work on feels in my swing. Today was one handed drills and I hit a few balls with both my right and left hand. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. I think the vultures were circling while doing my right hand swing. The left hand did better, though, and I actually made decent contact with the foam balls I was using for safety.

The neighbor lady was looking at me suspiciously while going to check her mail. She even looked back over her shoulder as she walked back toward the house.

After several shots with the Planemate attached, I took some video of the results and its starting to actually look like I might have an idea of what I'm doing.

I seriously need to rake the yard.

Since I am technically challenged I won't try to do a video. First of all I want to say thank you to GolfSpy and Spornia. This is one well thought out net. The quality is top notch everywhere you look. Having the advantage of watching sirchunksalot video it took me all of about 4 minutes to put the net up. Every ball I hit comes right back to the front of the net. The netting is first class. I would have no issues at all spending the $239 if I was buying a net. Even Jag, our garage and outside mouser totally approves.

Looks like you've got a pretty good set-up three in your garage and it's good to see that Jag approves of the net. The ease at which this net goes up is definitely a highlight to me.

Have fun hitting into it! I can't wait to hear your impressions of it.

Hit some 7 irons and Drivers today. I rally like the size of the impact net: it dampens the impact nicely and protects the netting, which I wore out fairly quickly. I’m still getting used to standing so close to the net, but so far the only negative I’ve noticed is shanked shots that miss the impact screen come back, extremely hot.

@Micah T man, I wish I had a swing as smooth as yours. Great videos! I had a goal ball come rebounding back at me on a pretty lousy hit, fortunately it was kind of a high lob return and it wasn't a solid ball. 2105137192_Screenshot_20201223-092645_VideoPlayer-01.jpeg.e37c68bd7b96f9d880b9d3f9d831d313.jpeg

Your post also reminds me that I meant to post some photos of the quality of the build. 20201222_153947-01.jpeg.3fb3d510e090004799cf7c93ae2b5217.jpeg

The netting looks like it's good quality and since most of the exposed net is on the side, it can withstand the occasional shank. The poles both look and feel sturdy. The frame has already taken a little abuse from a terribly topped 5 wood and I couldn't see or feel any damage. Like with anything, time will tell the tale. 20201222_153952-01.jpeg.d059a0b7b1d99f4f4ef2251d50674fa4.jpeg The metal grommets seem solid and hopefully will hold up well to the repeated set-up and takedown it'll endure since I don't have a permanent place to put it. I'll occasionally be moving it to the mother-in-law's since she has a covered bay I can use during inclement weather.

The mat I ordered is arriving today and I can't wait to set it up and try it out.

Off topic but are courses open where you live there in Tennessee?

Damn, I need to move!

My wife is originally from Illinois and we recently had two couples that were her friends move down here. We usually can play year round, our coldest weather seems to be in late January and into February. It usually doesn't last that long.

I spent about another hour outside today working on wedge shots using the net along with the Planemate. Today was day 3 of the protocol which brings in the shallowing of the club. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make solid contact during this drill, as the video recommends using a tee. There were no problems and I hit some pretty good shots.

It was windy today, so much that I had to place bricks on the edges of the net...and it still blew over. I doubled up on the bricks and paid better attention to when the wind gusted.

20201223_133702-01.jpeg.ed71624d7f6e52e274003f817ca6f5a2.jpeg

I should have also tied off the net to the deck since the Spornia does have ropes attached to the sides. I guess I just didn't want to tie them back up afterward.

As you can see, the mat that is sold through the Spornia website arrived today and I like it so far. Hitting off the mat I had was a hassle as it put the ball above my feet. Also, I may or may not have caused some separation between the grass and the rubber parts of the smaller mat. I didn't chunk it that bad...I swear.

The new mat, while not a Country Club Elite or anything, performed well. It's fairly thick and gives good feedback through sound with a less than stellar strike.

20201223_133319-01.jpeg.5febb6eaab4f6690d4ef970b3f629668.jpeg

My only complaint was it was a bit rough rolling back up and getting back in the box.

I thought I was going to have a gripe with the Spornia, as I had some balls roll out of the collection area. I looked and saw some Velcro to adjust it and it seemed to be sewn in place. 20201223_144709-01.jpeg.5db470a15c6f343a5ffc363b48ce128a.jpeg

It wasn't and I adjusted it tighter and it started collecting balls again. What it couldn't stop was the ball I shanked into the side of the house and the ones I shanked into the stair rail. Oops.

I switched to foam balls after catching a case of the shanks and started hitting my 7 iron.

No video today, it was very windy and I didn't feel like having my tripod fall over. I was already watching the net and chasing the box the mat came in.

So I got into school today and get my setup all ready to go. I was able to hit some wedges, 8 irons and a couple of drivers. Luckily no shanks yet I’ll agree with the others that the net is pretty easy to get up and running. Took 5 to 10 minutes and most of that was being extra careful about no poking a hole in the roofing when feeding the pole through. Collection area worked like a charm and gathered everything.IMG_1451.thumb.JPG.39893a1e49ebb346fbf56591f460b9df.JPG

That's a good looking set up! I'm glad you found it easy to get up and going. Between you and @Micah T, you're making me self conscious about my swing speed. Looks like it'll get plenty of use in there.

Yeah, it's kinda what we often get around here. My wife was super excited to see snow on Christmas Eve, me, I'm just thankful I don't have to go anywhere.

After a couple of days off for the inclement weather we had over Christmas, I got out again today and practiced with the net. I'm still doing a lot of work with the wedge as Arccos hits me pretty hard in the 25-100 yard range. It's my goal in 2021 to become a better wedge player as I don't hit a ton of greens. I need to work on that, too.

The goal today was better ball striking, so I brought out the foot spray to give me an idea of where on the face I'm hitting partial shots.

First shot with spray on the club:20201227_151851-01.jpeg.a4ca7430e763bc0cb903c78f11f09aae.jpeg

Ok, this is looking good! Let's try a couple more.20201227_152030-01.jpeg.b73939ab982b6b5e71e1ce7f8704f9f6.jpeg

So now in all over the place with no consistency except for actually getting the club on the ball and no impressions of the ball on the hosel. That's a positive, right?

I hit a few more shots before cleaning the club off and analyzing what I might be doing wrong. 20201227_152453-01.jpeg.2da682f027e1271e06697cbf020b24b8.jpeg

A few in the center, a few off the toe, and the one closer to the heel. I worked on posture, standing a bit more upright as I tend to have a bit of a hunch. After standing a little more upright I started to see better strikes. 20201227_153337-01.jpeg.b0e9c03487721823685331f000abc4bc.jpeg

That's the result of ten shots. I had 7 in the center, two toward the toe, and a lone shot that connected the two others. I think that's a good foundation to start out on going forward. These were shots I was working on for the 40-50 yard range. I'll have to take it to the range and see if I can get similar results and verify yardages.

I moved on from there and hit shots with the 7 iron, and let's just say I need some work. I hit the net and was using foam balls for these since my net was positioned where I'm hitting toward the house. I did hit some real balls afterward as my lack of confidence is not in the net, but my ability to hit the net. 20201227_160956-01.jpeg.63907c9811031d09ad497cf5a6090fa8.jpeg

I hit some drivers, exclusively with foam balls, but quit soon after remembering I hate hitting off rubber tees that come with mats like this. Factor that in with the fact the mat is on a slight upslope and I'm not comfortable hitting driver like that.

My plan for driver is to take the net to my mother-in-law's house since she has a pretty flat yard. As someone without a permanent place to just set the net up and leave it, you've got to have a contingency plan. It'll also give me an idea how easy this net sets up and transports for people looking to buy one that will have to do the same.

I did learn something today about the net. I found when taking it down if you prop the top of the net at your waist, the roof poles are easier to slide out. I'll have to do a video on that to really show you what I'm talking about.
