Wow, never would have guessed the effects could be that severe. Definitely never something I have considered before. I would think all the major brands have decent QC, but hell this makes you think twice about grabbing some cheap balls off the rack.

This might be the most important part:

Using some unique creations from R&D

I'm sure they can design some dimple patterns that will ALWAYS have huge curves, while being barely detectable to a casual glance.  This is a demonstration, not really proof of much of anything.

A perfect cover for when a slice takes off for the next fairway over, "Hey those dimple reject balls do go off the clubhead weird! Great, now I gotta play from where it lies, don't let me use this ball on another hole..."  (walking away not looking back)

Heck, go to any lower-priced driving range, there are always a few old balls like that.  I like the ones where I see it change curvature direction 4 or 5 different times during the flight.

I don't see it often and only on a driving range, but it is truly bizarre when it happens. Since paint is one of the significant variables to golf ball quality, I'd imagine dimple depth/shape irregularities could be a factor, though not to the extent the video shows (they're not suggesting any manufacturer is that bad, just that an imperceptible difference can have a dramatic effect).

You are dead on it about paint--- That is why refurbished balls are supposed to me marked "refurbished" if they have been painted. Also Refurbished balls are not legal for stipulated play. Even slight painting will alter the dimple depth etc that the ball was submitted and approved with by the USGA. And I have seen some funky flight with balls marked Refurbished.

I always wondered where "Practice" balls came from!?! 🦄😋🤣

Golf is simple - people are complicated.

5w Taylormade SLDR S 19* - 220yd, Ping G2 5-U - 190-105, Maltby M+ 54* & MG 60* - 95-75, Evnroll ER8, Titleist 816 H1 4h 21*, Maltby 4 Hybrid Iron 24* - 210-200, Callaway XR16 8* - 235 carry

Additionally, I doubt a ball with a dimple depth discrepancy drastic enough to do that would pass the USGA symmetry test. This video is exaggerated well beyond any realistic manufacturing tolerance.
