Kenny B
Is anyone watching the women play the first round of CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, FL today? Guess what? Two of the 4 major champions this year, Sophia Popov and A Lim Kim, aren't in the field because they weren't LPGA members when they won their titles so they didn't qualify. Guess what again?? The LPGA added two players to the field as sponsor exemptions, Sarah Kemp and Natalie Gulbis, neither have performed very well this year. What does this say about their #WomenWorthWatching campaign?? HardcoreLooper
Not watching it today, too busy working. The sponsor exemption decisions are ridiculous. Kenny B
If CME Group wanted to make a good impression and support the LPGA in a positive way, they could have used their sponsor exemptions for Popov and Kim. At least they would have had a reasonable chance of winning. cnosil
I am watching and ultimately sponsors exemptions are the choice of the sponsor. Heard it was Natalie's fairwell tour which is why she was chosen. Sponsors are allowed to pick who they want otherwise they would be "the players that should be in the tournament that aren't exemption". But the Women's British Open and U.S. Women's Open champions aren't in the tournament unless they are an exemption. LPGA must fix that. Natalie is a fan favorite, but there are no fans. I can understand the sponsor picking Sarah Kemp since she is paid to endorse CME Group, but to the exclusion of two recent major winners is inexcusable. HardcoreLooper
I get that the sponsor gets to give sponsor's exemptions to whomever they want for whatever reason they want, but it's not a great look for the Tour Championship to invite two players that have missed more cuts than they made this season. The Tour Championship should be an elite field, right?
