STUDque
Message added by GolfSpy_APH,

Congrats to @blackngold_blood on being the 2021 MGS Fantasy Golf Champion. It was a honour to play this season and just a lot of fun as well! Thank you to all who participated and looking forward to next season as we all try to pull the golden ticket and title away from BNG.

Same as it was all season, top 4 count.

Thank you Berg, to me then it means that since Z is the only one from my team that is out from the Northern trust, I can sit on him for a couple more of days and give the tour some time to make up their mind.

#2. From everything I have found this is the big one. Due to the pandemic last year, the tour froze all players spots. They felt with the pandemic and shortened season that nobody should lose their pga card. With that means no golfer would be promoted either. Had they not froze the status of players Z would have already had his card to start this season and this wouldn’t be an issue.

This is a great point, he would have been a PGA card holder, if it was not the shorten season last year, but could, should, would, it is not the same as right now.

Exactly.  Justin Rose is a great guy and is this seasons Payne Stewart recipient... #126 is really close, let him play. The PGA is about to open Pandora's Box. 🤔

scoring is whack in this league.

I had the winner and 2nd place finisher and still lost some matchups.

Let's be fair for a minute here. You only had 3 guys make the weekend and the two teams you lost to were the highest scorer of the week in Cnosil, who had the winner and two guys in the playoff, and the fifth highest in Jahran, who had three guys in the top 10. Blame it on schedule luck maybe, but not scoring.

Well, you lost to me and one other team   I had the winner, 2 second place finishers plus a fourth player that didn’t do too badly.  the other team you lost to had 3 top 10 players and a fourth that made the cut.  You only had 3 players make the cut.

all I'm saying is there should be a much larger reward for having the winner than having guys in the top ten.

but - whatever - the scoring has been whack all season long.

I got something to say then I'm gonna say it.

I’d say 20 additional points for a win vs 2nd place is fairly substantial.  Sorry you don’t enjoy the league.

Basically we can chalk it up to the schedule. We have some weeks that are harder then others. Hoping next year we keep it at 60 or whatever the highest number is that we can play all the teams like last season. Then instead of having some schedule luck and loosing two matches you may still loose 2 or 3 but you'll also beat 57 or so!

In the end I had the highest scoring team by well over 130 points so a weeks worth of play, yet I still was 10 games down, but that is just the rub of the green!

"fairly substantial"

let's take a look at the difference between first and 2nd in the Wyndham ...

Full prize money breakdown for the 2021 Wyndham Championship

1: $1,152,000

2: $697,600

that's a 60% difference between winning and second place.

I'd consider that "fairly substantial" .... 20 additional points is a joke

Again the schedule the way it was this year lead to some tough weeks. We both had high scoring teams (rev too), but had a lot of points scored against us. Again rub of the green... thankfully it was auto populated schedule that was set when the season started so there was just some luck after that.
Obviously sucks when we have some teams mail it in or no partake in any manner at all which then led us to have to this format. With all that though anything can happen in the playoffs and pretty sure last year the guy in 20th nearly came to win the whole thing so in terms of how it will all play out its still up in the air and anything can happen.
Sorry you feel like you got wronged, but your not the only one who had a tough schedule or some bad breaks along the way this season (Rahm, Hideki and now Oost owners).

Simply because you have the winner on your team does not mean you should be guaranteed a win plus The scoring has been this way all year (which you have complained about multiple times). My suggestion is that since the scoring bothers you so much you don’t participate in fantasy sports on MGS.

This is the last I'm going to comment on this today because we're working pretty hard behind the scenes on Football today, but here's the reality of the situation.

You were the 5th highest scoring team of the season Stroker, that much is true. You were also 11th in points against. What you're complaining about amounts to 10 total bonus points for the playoff in the scheme of things... TEN POINTS. Now you are just playing against the field if your team is as good as it has proven to be you should be able to make up that difference if the teams in front of you stumble. You're in with a shout and a good one at that... let's leave it be.

I like that saying.

I look at it this way. As long as the scoring and match-up system is uniformly consistent or consistently inconsistent, it's the same for everyone.  I made the playoffs which was my seasons goal... now onto the "stretch goal". 🙏

So to add my two cents:

The scoring will always be a point of contention for different teams, we have had the entire year with it, and I too have had weeks where I was left scratching my head with how did a result turn the way it was.

However I do believe that the Mods did a great job to set up the scoring and how it would work, well before the season started, specially because fantasy golf is a very long commitment.

With that being said, the overall outcome of the year has been positive for me, and yes I wished we had played 1 vs all, and done away with the league average, but the platform does not allow for so many teams as we had to go against each other.

To me being the first year playing the golf league, I am happy and excited to come back next season, but I am a forever optimist and dont have much that will discourage me from playing future MGS fantasy leagues.

@StrokerAcewould you be willing to concede the Golden Ticket if you happen to win it all?

Do you have a suggestion as to how the point system needs to be changed? And is this suggestion in your favor and how could we show that you might actually be in a worse position based on that suggestion?

We all know the point system going into the season; you need to know how to work your team and "strategy" around the 'rules'. Seems you are in a top 10 position so you've been doing something better than most of us....
