So what I'm seeing on Fantrax in regards to draft or order is not accurate until after Weds?

Very much so. We are talking about how best to set up the pre-draft process to smooth it out time wise, but we need to lock in the league first and that doesn't happen until Wednesday.

We're hoping to give you guys some more information about this on Wednesday though, including potential draft order, player pool (how many of each player), draft pick tradeability, etc.

First time with fantrax, is there a way to pre rank players in the order I prefer to draft?

While I agree that the strategy is fun and challenges and sometimes infuriating leaving a good person on the bench I think for the majority the idea of set it and forget it is nice and basically searching for guys who play more often rather then studs and where we can have such a big league there will be some teams that don't get a chance at those top tier players as much. I really like the strategy of picking the 4, but also won the best ball so again its really a toss up for me and I'll be happy to go with either or. 

I think it's a toss-up and voted that I'm indifferent. Then again, I wasn't in the league when it was start/sit. Even with best ball, I found it hard to field a team on certain weeks because I refused to drop certain players - I had a terrible start to the season because of that (drafted a bunch of "studs" that didn't play the first few weeks), but clawed my way back pretty well before the playoffs.

That is the beauty part of best ball, a few good weeks can help you climb up the board awfully quick. It doesn't take a lot, but going 62-1 or whatever it is after having some down weeks is great. Pretty sure before the break I was on the verge of playoffs but not threatening and after the team went off and I had a few top 3 weeks that helped climb into the top 8 or so. There is definitely a balance between and the draft as well as trading are much more important in best ball format, I think. 

@xOldBenKenobiX you can rank your players by going into the draft room. Keep in mind because some events have already happened there are 20/21 rankings and a default team will be drafted off those, so if you or anyone is going to miss the draft it is a big to Set your your pre draft rankings. A good option is going to last year's standings then sorting by cuts made, often helps get the rankings a little cleaner.

This is going to be the largest fantasy league we've ever done here on MGS, and because of that... we've needed to go bigger ourselves. Also, as a second secret tip, what you may want to try and do is be a bit better than average.

Truthfully I have had such a long day with a 5am walk with the dogs, 3 hours of driving and 8 hours of coaching and such then another walk with the dogs that you could have said it flat out and it still would have taken me 20 minutes to figure it out. However! It is very nice to be busy for the first time in a few months! As you can see they are pretty excited to see whats about to come as well!

OK everybody we're locked. Welcome to the 2021 MGS Fantasy Football League. This is a lengthy message to kick off the season but it's very important so please read it in its entirety.

Here's a brief summary of the big changes for 2021:

• We'll have 64 teams this year. Largest yet.
• Winning poll format is "Best Ball." For those new to the league, the schedule is set as "All Play" so your score for each week will be treated like a de-facto leaderboard. Score the highest point total for the week and receive 63 wins.
• Confirmed that the MGS Golden Ticket is indeed still our prize. Good Luck!

Here's some unilateral updates we commissheses made:

• Increased player pool to 5 copies of each player to align with larger league and give more responsibility on the owners throughout the season rather than the draft.
• Instead of straight-up doubling majors points this year, we're just awarding extra bonuses to the position finishes. This will place a higher emphasis on where your players finish in the majors thus giving you the opportunity to swing your week with a hot golfer.
• Playoffs will be during the 3 PGA Playoff events.
  • 35 make the first round, 20 make the 2nd, and 10 will play in the Tour Championship
  • Cumulative points for those 3 weeks will determine the league winner
  • You'll receive points bonuses to begin the playoffs depending on how high you finish during the regular season.

Here's some info about the draft:

• We're also pushing back the draft a week to avoid rushing it this week. Here's your new schedule leading up to season start
  • 1/13 league locks
  • 1/13-22 time to trade picks, set rules and take on stragglers if necessary
  • 1/22 draft at 8PM (still using Friday as the winning vote)
  • 1/26 First waivers run to fill rosters
    • Although your roster size will be 8 total, our draft will only be for 6 rounds to save time. After the draft, we'll hit up waivers (FAAB) to fill our rosters.
  • 1/28 Farmers starts our first event
• The Random draft order has already been set. Head over to the Draft Room to see where you pick. CLICK HERE
  • As stated above, pick trading is enabled. Feel free to wheel and deal your draft picks. You don't need to keep 6 draft picks so you can trade the farm for a top pick if desired.
• If you won't make it, Rank your players so you don't get boned by auto draft CLICK HERE

 

Lastly, we set up a Slack chat workspace for the Fantasy Football league and will continue using it for the Fantasy Golf league. This is a good space for quick questions, trade talks, etc. The more people that join it, the more useful it can be. I've sent an invite to everyone in the league via a Fantrax commissioner email.

Second, apologies for what's probably a newb question, but having 5 copies available of each player...what does that look like on draft night?  I'm assuming we'll see the same player listed 5, 4, 3 etc., separate times so we'll know he's still available?

Each player will be listed once.  There’s a column called “#” that shows you how many copies remain. You can’t own more than one copy of a given player so they’ll disappear from the list once you add them.
