Even though we’re a bunch of strangers on the Internet I feel like we are more than that, we’re a community that has bonded together, and support each other in good times and bad. I really enjoy the time I spend here talking about golf and other things life related with all of you.

So here’s wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and or whichever holiday you celebrate.

i hope Santa brings you a few more yards off the tee, a little more spin on your wedges, and you make so many putts your friends turn green with envy.

Enjoy these next two days with friends and family, and let’s all pray for a healthier and happy new year in 2021!!!

Merry Christmas to the MyGolfSpy team and to all my forum friends.  While 2020 wasn't exactly what we all wanted, Christmas has a way of making us all feel better.

I’m curious if we have any other Italians here who still celebrate the Feast of Seven Fishes tonight?

For those of you who don’t know what that is, picture an Italian Sunday dinner gone into over drive, lol.

My family sits down to the table around 4pm or so...

we start with baked clams casino (topped w bacon), and the men get about a dozen each

Next comes a huge serving of mussels marinara, and a baccala (cod) salad, which is one of my favorite things, lol.

Next up are pasta in a white clam sauce and linguini in a red crab sauce (which if you’ve never had, I’m sorry for you). After the pastas we pick at the two dozen or so crabs that were in that super sweet crab flavored red sauce.

because this meal goes on for hours, we take a small break, and let the young ones open a few presents, then we come back to the table and get into some fried shrimp and calamari, stuffed flounder and cod fritters(?) and a mixed greens salad.

Thats it with the fish, but then we finish things off with dessert... Traditional home made struffoli, dozens of homemade cookies, fruit and nuts.

Lets just say I sit down to the table weighing around 180 or so, I’m probably 185 at the end of this 4-5 hour feast.

Then because we’re Italian, we all get together again tomorrow for antipasto, stuffed shells in a meat sauce, meat balls, bracciole, fried or parmigiana veal and chicken cutlets, salad  and another round of desserts...

Wow, sounds grand!  Also sounds exhausting  Can I just poach on your leftovers?  LOL

My wife and daughters have outlawed huge dinners, too much work on their part.  I smoked a turkey but otherwise Cracker Barrel provided the rest of the Thanksgiving meal.

my mom took christmas eve over about 10 years ago, but i’ll never forget the bathtub full of shrimp on ice at my grandparents house from when i was younger.

Tonight for the Hosel family (aka Shanks family) we are doing my grandpa’s famous “goodie plates” just a bunch of good treats on plates.

cheese and crackers, summer sausage, olives, shrimp, etc...

Tomorrow I am attempting a prime rib... never made one, love it, hopefully I don’t mess it up.

I'm not Italian but I grew up in an Italian neighborhood does that count? My wife is half Italian. So no feast today but tomorrow we are sitting down to.... Hot antipasto, lasagna, chicken cutlet parm, eggplant parm and shrimp parm.  We already made dozens of cookies.  Including rainbow cookies. Working on a apple pie now.  A little over kill for four people don't ya think! I'll be eating leftovers until my birthday in June.

Happy Christmas and Merry Birthday to all the Spies at MGS!

Tomorrow I will be 70 years old. My birthday has always been a somber one as I have never played golf nor been able to go out to a fine restaurant (they are all closed & so are the bars). So here’s to all the Christmas birthdays out there. I hope yours is a very happy day.
