I’ve gotten golf themed toilet paper, countless socks and ties with either golfers or golf balls in the design, dozens of golf balls with the logos of college or pro teams I root for.

This year actually wasn’t too bad, I only got one.  

In my stocking was a card denoting a one year subscription to Golf magazine. When I call them and ask them to tack this on to my current one, I think I’ll be receiving copies until the end of 2028 or so....

"Five Lessons" by Ben Hogan.  My brother in law got it for me and while it is a very thoughtful gift, I was telling my wife that for most people, what Hogan talks about in that book is pretty much the opposite of what you should do.

Considering that Hogan fought a hook and most high handicappers fight a slice, its not a good book for a high cap, IMO.  Its still a great book and I wouldnt expect my BIL to know that but yeah...anyways...

Want to get a good book to go with that one?

Check out Fundamentals of Hogan by David Leadbetter. He breaks down everything Hogan talks about chapter by chapter, and includes in each his view not only what Hogan was saying, but how it relates to the average/better player. Then says what he would like to see that player follow or do differently.

its a good read, plus he also discloses what he thinks is the answer to the “Hogan’s Secret” mystery. I have quite a golf library, but this and one other are my go to’s whenever I feel my swing is going off the rails.

The other is by Steve Dresser a local instructor who runs one of the best golf schools in the country out of True Blue/Caledonia. He gives it out free to his students, it’s called Golf FromThe Ground Up.
