Mrf@0000843 6
still confused. does a driver with higher spin have more distance or the other way. I normally play a tayormade m4 12 degree set at upright and have good distance well over 200 on a good day. would going to a 10.5 or 9 degree driver give ore spin and or distance. I read that lower lofted higher spin drivers are the best of both worlds but for the life of me I cant find a driver brand to let me know if they are higher or lower spin drivers. i know i can change the balls to help but looking for a driver. RickyBobby_PR 9,246
Spin is only one aspect of distance. Spin goes hand in hand with launch angle which have an impact on ball flight to include peak height, land angle and thus distance. The way a person delivers the club to the ball will determine the above factors. Two people using a 12* head with two different swings will have two different results 4 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1 Link to comment
jaskanski 1,321
The "optimal" launch parameters rely on 3 things: speed, launch angle and spin. Of the 3, speed is the most important in dictating how far a ball will travel. The other two combine to give optimal launch characteristics. That means too much launch and spin will have a negative effect on total distance, just as too little launch and not enough spin will also cost you yards. Speed - you can never get enough for total distance. If you experiment with the Flightscope trajectory optimiser here: https://flightscope.com/products/trajectory-optimizer/ ....you can begin to see how launch parameters effect distance - and how spin isn't the bad guy all the time. 1 Quote Link to comment
