Sorenstam and Player

I see where Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player received the Medal of Freedom yesterday. While they both deserve this honor, I hate that it happened at this time. Inevitably, this will pull them into the political arena. The events of this past week have put an indelible stain on our country. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, it was an embarrassment.  To see these two legends both of whom are great ambassadors of the game become part of the story is disturbing and sad.

On things like this I tend to brush politics aside--- I think this is well deserved for both of them--- I think in this case by most golf fans the political fires associated will be forgotten or at least I hope so
