Kenny B
I'm not sure it will make my list of drivers to try. The best thing I can say about it is that I can't see the sole of the club at address. GolfSpy_APH
I will be getting a new driver this year, without question and have to admit that these really intrigue me. I like to the look of them and although many reviews haven't said anything crazy special its definitely one product that has my attention. Camille Bissarro
First: I'm not a big fan of Callaway gear, in fact I've got a sort of brand antipathy when it comes to their stuff. I don't generally dig the aesthetics (what the hell is all over that driver face, a mid 90s 'tribal' tattoo?), their marketing spiels induce unconstrained eye rolling, and the Mavrik felt like a broken piece of plastic when I tried it last year. Second: I've tested this line, and the Epic Speed with an MMT shaft was a fantastic club for me. I'm going back to my fitter for a little more shaft testing and build tuning later this week. I guess I'll just have to get over myself and my anti-Callaway preciousness. PMookie
We were supposed to have a big demo day in-town last Friday with Mizuno, Cobra, Srixon, and Callaway, but the rain decided to put an end to that, so Callaway booked for today. I went out there right when they started and I’m glad I did because there were 6 guys waiting in a matter of 20 minutes after I started hitting! I only hit the drivers because I wanted to see how they’d perform OUTSIDE on Trackman (rep had it normalized) this time to compare from hitting them inside a couple months back. I, of course, started with mine (Cobra F9 Speedback 9* with the Xphlexxx Busa Liquid 2, 45”, heavy!), and the numbers were similar to what I saw inside. (First pic) So I then started hitting the Epic Speed 9* with the Aldila Rogue White 70X in their “Tour Length” -1” shaft so it was close to mine in length. Great feel and sound, but spin was too high, and it was worse, directionally, than mine. (Second pic) Next was Max LS with the same -1” shaft. Better numbers and better dispersion. A couple of sub 2000 spin, but only a couple. (3rd pic) Then I hit both with the stock length Aldila and the numbers weren’t any better, so lastly I tried both with the MMT 70X standard length shaft... This was the winning combo as far as “stock” options go for Callaway. Good spin, launch, carry, and best of all, smash and ball speed came-up. This was the Max LS with the MMT with loft set at -1*, and the weight moved all the way to the top. Pretty dang similar to my Sledgehammer.... (Last pic) Sound and feel were MUCH better with Speed, but performance was better with Max LS. Seriously, to take the Max LS and mine on-course would be a fun test. THEN, have another Xphlexxx Busa tipped with the Callaway adapter, weight the heads the same, etc and let’s see which wins... That would be AWESOME! Robert, who built my driver, has this very set-up, so I’ll need to find may way to NOLA soon for a round of golf! Gonna be tough to be the consistent smash of the Cobra/Busa combo with anything built differently, and consistency is the name of the game at this point when it’s this close!!! It was a fun test today. Stock shaft options were pretty good! I was surprised by the MMT! cnosil, GolfSpy_BNG and edingc 3 Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX

Nice share and not to turn this thread off topic but it's interesting how the head weight of your current set up gets the efficiency up to allow a difference of 2.5 between the first and last images resulting in similar ball speeds (not sure how many shots with each). Just shows you can get to similar places with different set ups. Bit heavier and slower, or lighter and faster but overall similar performance. And this is why it was built with the extra weight, get the smash up, and keep it there more consistently. I wanted to hit mine a few times throughout, and especially at the end to see swing speed go up once I got warm, but there were 5-6 folks waiting. The physics of it all should have the heavier head hit with more force at equal speeds, or near equal, so it is definitely cool to see when comparing these shots. The physics is definitely interesting. You can go lighter and faster to a point that there isn't enough mass to generate the ball speed or you can go heavier (increase mass) and slower and get more ball speed until you get too slow. Always tradeoffs that need to be figured out by the golfer. Are you thinking of a driver change or just playing? A few months back I had tested the new drivers on Trackman, but indoors, so as the demo days come around I’d like to see what they do outside where Trackman is more accurate. The builder of my driver has seen better distance with a couple different heads vs the F9 Speedback I have, so I’d be up for changing out the head for one that’s more efficient across the face. The build would still be short/heavy. Yeah and you have to remember that all drivers will react differently when you add weight to the head - and not all in a good way GolfSpy_BNG, cnosil and RickyBobby_PR

I usually build my drivers with extra weight in the head and a lightweight shaft to attempt to keep overall weight similar. What I found most beneficial is that not only does ball speed usually go up but consistency/forgiveness seems to increase as well. Not necessarily left/right dispersion but more so the distance/ball speed drop is tighter. cnosil, edingc and PMookie 2 1 Quote What is in my Sun Mountain C-130 bag or Jones MyGolfSpy bag Driver: Dark speed LS 8* set to -1.5* with an Attas Daaas 4x shaft @ 45” Fairway: F85 3 wood with a XPhplexx Agera X @ 42.5” F85 5 wood with a UST Elements Chrome 7F5 @ 41.5" Driving Iron: Rapture 2-Iron Irons: SMS Pros 4-PW with Steelfiber I95s Wedges: SMS 50* T grind with Steelfiber i110s Glide 4.0 46* zz wedge shaft Glide 4.0 E grind 54* zz wedge shaft Putters: Mezz.1 34” 69* lie EV5.1 black 33.5” 69* lie
