Golfworks shaft extraxtors

Recommended Posts

Looking for ideas on a cost effective and practical shaft extractor. I want to set up a small club building station in my garage or basement.  I want to be able to swap shafts and grips without taking to a pro shop.  I want to start building my own clubs, at least tweaking shafts lengths and grips.

I found a pretty good selection of tools at golfworks.

Anyone have experience with this one.

Golf works.

Take a look at the Maltby version.  I mount it in my bench vise and it works well. Pricing is roughly the same. I would encourage a heat gun as opposed to a torch If working with graphite.

I have that one and it should be fine for you and/or anyone beginning club making/repair. Would recommend watching videos (web), and investing in the club shield paste (protects from heat). Lots of knowledge in forums where clubmakers recommend/share knowledge. Good luck.

I used this style for years. Never had an issue with any shafts.  Just need a vise. 367D5E0B-58B8-409B-9B02-2C1D69B6D7A0.png.f47f90fc7eb229ba8eb5c875c064d096.png

Thanks for input.  I was looking at that vise mount one for $104 i am liking that price, in fact it looks like it will fit into one of the workbench drawers.

Will look into Maltby too.

Paste sounds like good advice too.

I have this one and it works great.

I would personally spend the money for a decent shaft extractor.  All it takes is messing up one shaft and that $100 you saved goes right down the drain.

Watch for the Golfworks coupons, they run 20% off tools sales all the time.

The gold works vise mount one will absolutely fit in a drawer.  I have a small workbench and being able to put it away was huge.

The key for me when using it was to put some pressure on the head, then add a little heat. Keep checking to see if you can add a little more pressure and once you can keep ratcheting it you are done with the heat. Just ratchet the rest of the way off.

I was just about to post about this setup. I've used on just like this for 15 years.
For the money spent you probably can't get something better.

That one works and I'm sure I am repeating here but you'll want to practice on some steel shafted clubs first. Clamping graphite shafts I to these things seems basic but you can, and will ruin a couple before you get the hang of it so be patient and good luck.
