Kenny B
I've been playing the Edison 49 since last summer. I didn't notice much difference from the SCOR 50, so you should like them very well. I've been playing the Callaway PM Grind 54 and 60 for a couple of years, and I just can't replace them. I'm using KBS Tour 90 in regular flex for shafts, and I have the same shaft in the Edison. cksurfdude, revkev, 00sportsman and 1 other 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

revkev
Okay they have arrived, now of life would co-operate I will start hitting them. The plan is Friday! As a quick reminder, I currently play SCORs. I have 60, 56, 52 in the bag but never use the 56. I’m replacing them with a 53 bent to 54 and 59. I’m 64, my current index is 5.6, driver SS mid 90’s so short game is huge for me, it’s how I score.I’ve got KBS tour graphite 80’s R flex’s, 1/4 long 2 degrees flat in the Edison’s.Here are some pics:The last picture shows the transition from my D7 forged GW which is a 49 to the Edison. You may notice that the Edison has the slightest of Cavity Back looks where as the SCORs are more of the slightest of MBs. The soles on the Edison’s appear a tad thicker to me as well. They are beautiful wedges. I can’t wait to get them out to the range and practice green. I hope to get three or four practice sessions in prior to getting them on the course in a couple of weeks.Stay tuned and let me know what questions you might have. I didn't notice either with my 49º, but I never hit my wedges high anyway. Question: Did you get the TGI 80 shafts based on Edison recommendation? Are they the logical transition from your D7 irons? I heard that the TGI shafts have a lower flight. I chose to match the shaft in my 49º to the KBS Tour 90 shaft in my 54º and 60º wedges rather than the Nippon Zelos shaft my Bridgestone irons; I don't need a lower flight. Not much difference in weight, but stiffer than my irons. Yes after a conversation with Billy from Edison and based upon both my current irons and the shaft that I had in my SCORs he felt that this was the right choice. We shall see, shan't we. For $200 a club it better be the right choice. A huge shout out to my staff that gifted me with nearly enough for one as a Christmas present. revkev
Okay I went to the practice green today, don’t tell my doctor as I should be waiting until Friday. I hit chips and pitches with the 53 weakened to 54.This club has a tough nut as it will replace my 52 bent to 53. My ARCOSS short game handicap is a 2.1 and it’s primarily because of that club. What I didn’t like: the top line and profile appear thicker and larger than my current wedges. What I like: The feel was great - instant accurate feedback. I actually holed two chips and knew that they could go in on impact. I was able to add or subtract spin at will and control trajectory and distance very quickly and easily. I holed two shots and got up and down from random lies well over half the time - however sone of that was because I putted lights out.Friday I will try to hit some fill shots assuming my lower left leg continues to improve.Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Kenny B and Josh Ross 2 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

revkev
Had them on the course for the first time today. Was a bit tentative at first - haven’t played much and coming off an injury.Got to 7, par 5, nice drive, had 250 in - hit 7 iron and left 90 - hit the 53 bent to 54 - wind was swirling, so hit it low, intentionally, almost jarred it, quick hop, hit pin - kicked side ways to 8 feet but spun almost dead there.Next hole had a very tough pitch with the 59 - down hill lie, wet, muddy, swirly Bermuda, almost drained the pitch.Number 10, toed a 7 iron left, past hole high - tough pitch from a grass bunker - 59, straight in birdie. Shot 35 on the back - and yeah these wedges they will okay subs for my SCORs. revkev
I’m going to head to the range later today to compare the Edison 53 to the SCOR 52 in many and various ways. That SCOR 52 is my pair is slippers - since I only actually hit 13 clubs I had it I last weekend and went to it in the back 9.I’m having trouble flighting the Edison 53 down and hitting low runners with it. revkev
Well I made to the range today and horrified to find our short game area totally torn up. :(I have to tread lightly because they take really good care of me there but the full paying membership is livid and I don’t blame them.We think they’re using the sod out on the course to fill in spots that reman about bare on a couple of troublesome fairways. They made a mistake trying to resod it with a different turf 3 summers ago. The turf on the back range is much hardier and stands up to water far better. Regardless there will be heck to pay at the next board meeting. What that means for this review is that I only hit full shots. I will say that the Edison 53 did not fare well either as a gap filler between my Wilson GW and the 59 nor v. the SCOR that it’s looking to replace. While I didn’t measure it didn’t seem to launch lower (as advertised) than the SCOR. Of course that could be mitigated by a change of shafts but this is the issue with not being live fit - The shaft just seems too light and the head too big for my liking. I need to get to a trap to truly test the 59 but again I think I’d prefer a heavier shaft Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy BKordon, cnosil, Kenny B and 3 others 6 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

We think they’re using the sod out on the course to fill in spots that reman about bare on a couple of troublesome fairways. I need to get to a trap to truly test the 59 but again I think I’d prefer a heavier shaft Interesting. I did not find any difference in launch between my 50 SCOR and my 49 Edison either, even though it was supposed to. Maybe they were referring to non-TK-developed wedges. The shafts are not the same but similar weight, around 90g. I don't use the Edison a lot, but when I do I like it. It actually has become my goto bump and run club. revkev and MattF 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

I think you are probably right in that they are comparing to other wedges but frankly most top line wedges are designed to launch the ball lower, I think and at nearly $200 a club that's Edison's target. I was being kind, the weight of the shafts in both of my wedges are around 80 grams, I can't really speak to how each is tipped but I certainly "feel" the clubhead much better in the SCOR than the Edison - that may be part of an adjustment period though. Right now I'm leaning towards calling them and saying I need to send the 53 back. I suspect that I will develop a very nice relationship with the 59. I've already hit some really good shots with it. Wedges to me are always quirky, I've changed them far less than any club in the bag throughout my playing days, even putter and I've had my current putter four years, the one prior for 10 years, I'm simply reflecting that before those two it was the typical merry go round with the flat stick. I wager that TK will call you. He will take your observations and suggest an alternative shaft for you to try before they buy it back. And I would gladly do that - I also may be premature in my assumptions - I've only hit the wedges in earnest for two rounds and practiced with them once. It took me several months to warm up to the SCORs but that was getting used to the sole. revkev
Went to the putting green today and really worked on holing short putts. As the session continued my grip got lighter and lighter and more and more balls went in.Applied that same concept to backyard pitches with the 59 and pretty soon balls were raining into the plastic circle that I laid out.I had no trouble feeling the club head with a looser grip. Funny how that works. :)Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy cnosil, Kenny B, MattF and 2 others 5 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
