Light Shaft for Aggressive Swing

Recommended Posts

My previous from the app failed.  Sorry.  Looking for recommendations besides the obvious "get a fitting" for my driver.  Distance is 260-300 depending on the day. Swing is aggressive, quick transition.  Really like to go afternit.  Preferred feel is heavy head and non-boardy feel in the shaft. High ball flight with all clubs is my standard.  Driver head is M1 440 set to 8.75 rear weight forward.  Front weight slightly to fade. Shaft is Project X Smoke Yellow 6.0. On good days, straight to slight cut flight.  Bad days are high push to ballooning slice. Still long but score killing. HDCP is 7.8 .  Every 70 gram shaft I try takes away the feel of the head I prefer.  Maybe the wrong 70g shaft.  Looking for a mid to high launch.  Not sure about spin as I'm not sure if the slice days are spin related.  Have KBS x flex irons, Miyazaki 59g x hybrid shafts.  Standard Project X Yellow 6.0 in the 3 wood.

Short game savant, driving disaster...

The yellow is a counterbalanced shaft and is one that most don’t like the feel of.

You could try the 60g in yellow to see if that helps, the 60 or 70g smoke green could be an option as it has better feel than the yellow and black.

The aldila rogue white, silver or black could work.

Ventus blue or red.

Mitsubishi raw blue

Accra tz5.

But in reality we would all be guessing and giving opinion based on our experiences and possible none of them would work with your swing and getting fit really is the only way to find the right shaft without having to spend money tinkering to find the right one

Sounds like you may need a step up in stiffness although different companies vary. The RDX blue might be your ticket as it is a tick below 60g and is counter balanced

I think you should give some tour stiff shafts a shot. I recommend:

Mitsubishi Tensei pro white tx
Fujikura speeder evolution 7x

If you like to feel the club head rather than the shaft maybe try a lighter shaft, in the 60 gram range?

I also have KBS Tour X shafts in my irons. If you want a test shaft that won't break the bank you can go back a few years and try a Fubuki J. I played a Fubuki in my R9 Supertri going back 10 years. High bombs. Played it for a few years. Took some time off of playing much due to starting a family and started upgrading my bag again last year. Didn't have the cash to grab the newest shafts but I found a Fubuki J and a grabbed a TS2 head and it's back to high bombs. I play the 70g model but you can get one in the 60g range. I think it's like 64g actual weight. As I understand it, it has a little bit higher balance point so the swing weight will be a little lower
