ParFore74x
Closest one so far this year for me! Hole was playing 180 yds and is downhill 31’. Hit 6 iron to ~3’. (34” putter for reference) Such a cool feeling to get that close on a tee shot and yes, I made the birdie putt. DonnieGolfs
Haven't been close in awhile but my most wrenching time I missed Par three with my wife and two boys I hit one right at it. Ball takes one bounce and is rolling right at the cup, I'm thinking I'm getting on in front of the boys and Laura would be amazing. See the ball roll into the cup and pop up and stop about a 3 inches past. There was a damn pool noodle in the cup, last guy must've lifted the flag and not fixed the pool noodle because it was about half an inch from the top of the cup. My wife sees me trying to laugh off the anger I'm trying to hide and thinks saying we should count it, would help. My very competitive (3 year old at the time) is ready to find whoever put the pool noodle in the cup and tell them the story of how they ruined my hole in one. They both also told me we should get ice cream and that I'd probably get one real soon anyway. We got the ice cream but I'm still waiting on the Ace. Chipmunk
I'm grateful for this thread. I've been playing over 30 years and while I've been within a foot a couple times, that's it. I also have only witnessed 1 hole in one while playing. My girlfriend at the time, playing 120yd hole, hit a worm burner, never getting off the ground, but it rolled up and into the hole. The group on the next tee, as this was a tight course, started yelling/cheering. That's when I started saying to myself, unconventional golf, it may not look pretty, but it works for me. This was 25 years ago or so. Good or bad, I play unconventional golf a few times a round and have really learned to embrace it. tony@CIC 1 Quote Typically a bogey golfer although I have improved some over the past few years due to playing more. Duxman130
I been within 2" about five times, but no cigar. JustJeffy
OMG, where to start? Been playing off and on for 40 years. Funny enough I hit the pin yesterday but ended up on the fringe behind the hole and missed the birdie putt. The closest I have been is two inches behind the cup on #15 at Doral's Blue Monster from around 165 yards out as it lipped around the cup to the back. The worst part is that my brother has two of them and he's not a great golfer. His most incredible hole-in-one is the one that he topped off the tee and it rolled down the cart path, over a bridge bounding back and forth from the concrete rails and then continued to roll all the way into the cup. There's just no justice. tony@CIC 1 Quote G425 Driver G425 3w 2 Hybrid Z585 Irons 3-PW RTX Zipcore 50 Gap, 56 SW, 60 LW 2 ball Putter Maxfli Tour Balls

DechamBRO
I am 100% in the same boat!! Have been inches away, but never made one. Funny (or sad) that my closest were when I started playing. Almost had one in Misawa Japan.....nailed a 5 wood on a uphill par 3. The guys I was playing wither were like "that was waaay too much club", and they were right. That thing was soaring over the green......then about 20 yards past the green it nailed a tree in the air, came back, rolled all the way to the cup, just inches away. Completely ridiculous. I have witnessed 2 hole-in-ones when stationed in Germany, both on the same hole, 15, both during rounds of our intramural golf league......so at least I have got to have some free beers? tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver: LTDx LS, 10.5, S-Flex BRNR MiniDriver, S-Flex Fairway: G425 3 Wood, Alta CB 65, S-Flex Fairway: G425 7 Wood, Alta CB 65, S-flex Irons: FG Tour V6, 5-PW, DG S300 , S-Flex Wedges: hi-toe 50, 54, 58, DG S300 S-flex Putter: Toulon Daytona Ball: Maxfli Tour X Grips: Golf Pride Z Grip midsize

doodlegolf
I'm not a real frequent visitor to the forum, and contribute even less, but I love the stuff you guys post. Been playing 15 years with no ace, close a number of times like many of you, but none that are memorable because they didn't go in. But now I'll have to start keeping track of just how close without going in. Which brings me to this past Saturday at Fox Fire GC at Par 4 Resort in Waupaca, WI. #11 playing 170 yards to a front pin. Somewhat ugly 6 iron, bounced short of the green and rolled on to 5 feet long (per Arccos, no tape measure in my bag, but there is now). Now I know 5 feet is probably a bit long for this thread topic, but I made the putt which is pretty important, right? Started playing at 4, playing full rounds to qualify for legit acedom at 10 (so that reduces longevity to 63 years?), single digit handicap from 13 to 73 years OLD (separate category for incompetent competence of 60 years?).
