Okay, I love music but Ive came across a scenario twice in the last couple of weeks. People shopping with music playing from their phone. Didnt love their selection or the environment it was in.

Anybody else hearing this in stores?

Yep. Some of the music I listen to has the occasional swear word in it, not every song, just a few of them and I would not play them out loud on my phone for all to hear. There's earphone/buds for that.

That's just kind of odd, I see people with their headphones in while grocery shopping all the time, but never with their phone out just flat out playing music.

Occasionally I'll pull up to a gas pump and there will be a car with not only music blasting but also the bass turned way up - so much so that it looks like the glass and car body is shaking. Can't imagine what that's doing to the person's eardrums.

We have a small mall in town with shop entrance's from the outside. Kind of like a larger strip mall but located on both sides of the parking lot. This is where the high school kids cruise!  Nothing worse then going into one of the restaurants and then they cruise by in a line with one car louder than the next. Not sure if the windows will bust or the license plate will fall off first. Your trying to eat and the glass of water on your table looks like the vibrations you would get from a Triceratops walking by. They even have signs posted for no cruising.....

music and facetime in public drive me absolutely crazy.

if you wanted to share your grocery shopping trip with your friend that badly, you should have picked them up and brought them with you.

Oh...heres another one that Im seeing more of. I go to my gym and will use the hot tub on a regular basis. Not only to soothe my body, but to relax, unwind, and unplug.  Ive been tormented with listening to a few Facetime conversations as of late and Im not a fan.  I can tolerate the youngsters snap chatting their friends, but cant tolerate hearing conversations with your buddies or girlfriends. You have to talk loud in a hot tub and I dont want to hear it.  I guess Im getting old, but I find it very rude.

so speak up. if it’s not a situation i can easily remove myself from i’ve got no problem asking someone to switch to ear buds, lower the music, or turn it off completely.

i’ve had people respond both possible ways.

nothing to lose by asking politely.

The thing I don't get with this stuff is it isn't just the young crowd. I see people my age "generation" lets just say the 80s doing this stuff too. I always kinda give them that look. I know your mom raised you better than this. The stuff people do in public now was not acceptable behavior when I was coming up.

As for the Cars, sorry but that is a tale as old as time. Got to show off those wheels for the ladies. I will admit though as I get older I find it annoying LOL.

This one right here. Every other aisle there's some guy, and YES it's pretty much always a guy, on speakerphone with his significant other as she walks him through the entire store and tells him what to buy. Ever heard of just making a list?

Music, Face time, and calls on speaker phone in public..

I hate to throw stereotypes but unfortunately I think it's just becoming a part of the new phase of generation. There's Gen-X, Gen-Z, and today's Gen-IDGAF or Gen-"everybody look at me". I'm not pointing fingers at a specific age group so much as group of people who have adopted these practices. Must be something about not getting enough attention in one form or another?

I'm a music lover to the core. I can't go a day without music. When I go grocery shopping, I wear my earbuds and just get lost in my tunes for 30 min while I fill my cart and check off the grocery list.. it's therapeutic. I don't listen to music for anybody but myself. I find today's generation doing weird and borderline ridiculous things only for the purpose of holding other's time and attention hostage.

Just last week I was shopping and a lady was next to me talking on speaker phone to someone else. It was a completely personal conversation that had absolutely nothing to do with the groceries she was buying. It definitely didn't have anything to do with me, yet I was forced to have to listen to the whole thing while I was looking for the bread my kid likes. All the while, she was still holding the phone up to her head with her hand so it's not like it was out of convenience to relieve a hand to do her shopping. Really the only difference between that and a regular phone call was the speaker up at full volume. Very good chance it was the dumbest thing going on in the store at that moment.

I also work in automotive manufacturing and see the exact same thing. Sometimes people will be sitting outside just blaring it. I'm not opposed to music, I just don't want to hear someone else's when I'm walking in at 5 in the morning, I like my peace and quiet at that time, plus the coffee hasn't kicked in.

We were walking in one morning and hear someone listening to metal coming up behind us. Granted, he was wearing ear buds but it was loud. Dude power walks around us and you can tell by his body language he might just have some anger issues. He gets in font of us and punches the wall on his right, pretty hard. Keeps walking and my buddy and I may look at each other and start laughing.

I absolutely love music and can listen to most genres. I’ll listen to it loud when I am alone and when I am in public I will wear earbuds at a normal level. I don’t really understand the fascination with a person sharing their music or phone conversations with everyone around them.

Maybe I’m just getting old. 😂

Used to be rare that I'd hear so much of someone else's music out in public unless stuck at a stop light, but since moving to DFW I see this happen everywhere and truly find it annoying. I don't get it.

What's funny is that music on the golf course (in most situations) doesn't bother me at all. Now, if I can truly hear you from a couple fairways over then we have a problem. Most of the time, the guys playing music on the course are kind enough to keep the volume at a level that can only be heard within a few yards of their cart. On the rare occasion I've got music going as well, I'm the same way.

Arccos has prevented me from playing music as much, but I recently got Link so I'll finally be able to enjoy some tunes again. 🙂

Just to be extra clear, I wasn't so much pointing at a specific age group but more a group of people in a time in history. This practice has been adopted by a range of goobers😜

Oh I completely agree with this!! I would even venture to say that the afore mentioned group are also the group that give us play by play of their day on Social Media. It all scream narcissistic behavior.
