I recently was fitted for new irons.  Was thinking the same as you.  My handicap is a 12.  All I can tell you is hit one, use their demo program.  I suspect you’ll be surprised in a good way.  I’m in irons I never thought I would swing and the numbers don’t lie, should have been hitting them sooner.

Some folks say golf messes up a nice walk.  That’s not true, golf makes a nice walk bearable.

I thought the same thing!  Pulled the trigger and, when they arrived, they were even better looking than the pics.  I'm an 11-12 hcp....love them.  They are very forgiving.  I got the 699/699 Pro combo.....pros start at the 8 iron.

I did the split at the 7 iron, so my combo goes 4-6 699 and 7-AW 699 Pros.

I think they will very playable for you. The blade length on the 699s is just a hair longer than the 699 Pros, and the offset is a little more pronounced. Honestly, looking at the transition between the 699 6 Iron and the 699 Pro 7 iron, you'd think it was just a progressive offset set. The difference from the top between the two models blends very well and is not jarring in the least bit.

I recently broke into the 80s with some consistency and felt like the time was right for me to make that next leap.   This felt like a natural step and I am very glad I took it.  Before the deep freeze settled in I was able to hit the 9, 6 and 4 on the range and I love them!  KBS Tour 120 shafts, plus 1 degree lie and 1/4" longer shafts.

Manhattan, KS

:taylormade-small:Taylor Made ATV 58 and 52 wedges

No official handicap but about 18.

I would say do a demo with the clubs to try them out.  The fitting certainly is going to help.
