Some Advice about ordering clubs this year

We all know the pandemic has disrupted supply chains all over the world and the golf industry was not spared.  Place an order for a club today and your delivery window can be weeks out and it might even get pushed further out as you wait for a shipping notification  

From people in the industry I’ve talked to, the main issue is components: Grips and Shafts. 

For example the X Flex Aldila White shaft that’s a stock offering in the Ping line? Not available until April

The most popular/basic grip of all time, the Golf Pride Tour Velvet? Nobody knows when they’ll be readily available again. 
 

My advice when placing a custom order is try to talk to the OEM customer service to see if there are certain shafts/grips that are delaying fulfillment times. Your driver might be delayed for weeks, but it may only be due to a $10 grip choice

Good advice - I certainly have a back up grip if my first choice isn't available - I would be reluctant to switch from a preferred shaft just to receive an order sooner.  I've placed two orders during the pandemic, each was delayed but neither troubled me.  It's a pandemic, I'm still playing golf occasionally and am healthy, I really don't have anything to complain about.

Placed an order, in December, for a set of T100S irons.  Shipment date was in April.  Checked with my pro last week and that date hasn't changed.  

My order was 6-PW with DG X100s and the stock grip.  Wonder if the shaft is what is driving the long lead times?

Concerning the “the vid” it is what it is: I waited 2 months for a driver shaft this summer, 2 weeks for a putter, and 4 days for wedges. @jlukes hit the nail on the head, it’s about the custom shafts, and to a lesser degree, what grip you choose.
