juspoole
I wanted to check with the group to find out if anyone has any experience with this surgery and recovery. I just had my surgery on 2/10 so a long road ahead. Of Course I will be following the instructions of my doctor to the "t" as everyone's injury is a little bit different. However, looking for any takeaways or tips from someone that may have went through the experience or knows someone that has. Thanks! tommc23 and Rickp 2 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34" Link to comment
BMart519
Happened to a buddy, I believe he suffered a full or partial re-tear after the walking boot was off due to a minor slip. Make sure you focus on lots of mobility work all up and down the back of the affected leg - plantar fascia, calves, hamstrings especially with all the extra time spent sitting. tommc23, MattF and juspoole 3 Quote G425 MAX Driver & 5W Baffler Rail-H 3H-4H 699 Pro Utility V2 - 4i APEX CF19 6-AW INDI Wedges 52, 56, 60 EAS 2.0 Link to comment

I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon about 10 years ago. Surgeon said it looked like 2 horsetails. I was on a cast/boot for months. As of today, I have no mobility issues, but my calves are totally different sizes and shapes. It felt like forever to get back to walking, but you will get there. Do your PT. Follow the surgeons instructions to the letter. Get a knee scooter. (life saver) find an extra comfortable chair to sleep in for a while. Pick up some new games for the Playstation.... Good luck man. My sister could have written this about her experience (except she's not into Playstation). PT, following instructions, scooter, comfy chair and a lot of patience is what worked for her. I know from her experience that there's no quick way back, but there are ways to slow it down considerably. Good luck, juspoole. I hope you can get to the other side of it. juspoole 1 Quote I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad! juspoole
Thanks for the advice and support @00sportsman, @RickyBobby_PR, @BMart519, @Getoffmylawn, @MmmmmmBuddy. Already looking into a scooter as I'm not a fan of the crutches whatsoever. Doctor said something similar to me about the tear was fairly severe. He didn't use that exact terminology of 2 horsetails though, but that's a proper description. 00sportsman and GolfSpy AFG 2 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34" Link to comment

GolfSpy BOS
Sorry to hear about the injury. My father in law just had the procedure done and he was in a cast/boot for 6 weeks or so. Hasn’t really started intensive PT yet, but I know he was super stiff when he got out of the boot. I had a full rupture back on August 24th and surgery on the 3rd of September. Definitely listen to your doctor. Not sure your height and weight. I'm 5'-9" at 135lbs. Once they let me walk in the boot I was on my feet as long as I could tolerate it. I would ice it nearly every night to keep the swelling down. Push yourself in physical therapy, pain is good, but listen to your body. Your tolerance to the pain will gradually increase. If you're in pain take a break, then try pushing again. Hang in there buddy, it's not fun. Be patient, and again listen to your body, last thing you want is to re-injure it. But you'll look back in 5-8 months and think it was a blur. ReaRea
I tore my Achilles (complete tear), with heel reconstruction and had surgery December 17th. I'm still not back to walking yet. I wanted to know if anyone else had this kind of delay. It's super frustrating right now. Quote Link to comment
