edingc
I've been through the ringer on this one for the past year or so. I've been trying to locate some "crossover" type polos that I can wear both on the course and in the office. I play a lot of my rounds before/after work, so not having to change shirts during the day is nice, and I also try to maintain some sort of minimalist/capsule wordrobe so having pieces of clothing that perform multiple duties is a must. I have no problems with patterns, but prefer solid colors just because they are easier to match with a pair of chinos or jeans (jeans are OK at my place of business). I'm a bit of a tough fit, I have wide hips for my chest/shoulder size. Typically require a medium in polos for the waist measurement, but my chest/shoulder measurement is borderline small/medium, and my torso isn't ridiculously long. In the past year, I've tried (all in medium): Multiple Puma polos - Too long to wear untucked, chest and shoulders very wide in medium. Sleeve length is great. I might be able to squeeze into a small here, but would have to order another. I have an older Puma polo I got in 2015 that is absolutely perfect sizing, but it seems they've gotten much larger since then. I have two in my closet that are for golf only at this point. Under Armor - Too long to wear untucked, borderline too wide in chest and shoulders. Waist is good. Sleeve length is long. I held onto this one strictly for golf. Dunning Golf - By far the most comfortable and luxurious, but went down to mid-thigh. Shoulders fit great, chest and body were way too loose. Returned. Looking at the size guide for Greyson, it looks like I'd be stuck in the same situation, a chest measurement that suggests small, and a waist/hip measurement that suggests medium. Are there other brands out there I should be looking at? I'm not opposed to spending money for a quality polo, but looking at G/Fore polos at $100+ makes me cringe a bit. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on some Amazon Basics slim fit ones at this point, the easy returns make it a no brainer. Nike? Adidas? The Adidas jackets/pullovers I have are great fits. Appreciate any thoughts from everyone. GolfSpy BOS
You know... I have a few Polos from Target. They are the "All in Motion Men's Pique Golf Polo" and they're at least worth a try. Not a lot in-stock at the moment, but they're comfortable, stretchy but the Pique design holds up well to office use, as does the lack of branding/logos on the chest or sleeve. Classic, clean, and cheap! Not sure if that helps but UA is typically a little looser for me in the chest area VS. the Nike and IZOD. edingc 1 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? Tom the Golf Nut
Try the Nike and Oakley golf shirts they seem to run shorter in length and a tighter chest fit. Appreciate any thoughts from everyone. I have the same issue so I understand. FJ makes an 'athletic fit', but I rarely see it in the stores, you can find it in their online store. The better deal is Nike's 'slim or athletic fit' (can't remember exactly what they call it. The benefit of the Nike is that I can always find them at the markdown rack at GG. Guess there isn't much call for them. juspoole
I've really enjoyed Rhoback and just ran across them the past few months. Still pricey, but seem to be made well and I like how they fit and have a stand collar that keeps it's shape really nice. Double down on the quarter zips from them, which are some of the nicest I've owned. I tend to have a lot of success buying from eBay. The G/Fore polos can be found closer to 50 - 60 dollars for new. Greyson would be the same way, but you might almost need to go to a small for them as I find they do fit a bit larger. Peter Millar Crown Crafted is very nice as well. Be sure to look at crown crafted as it's a much slimmer fit than the regular PM which actually runs a bit large. Some of the newer Travis Mathew stuff is less cotton and more wicking/polyester feeling that is a bit more snug. It can seem odd to buy from eBay, but you will thank me from how much you can save. Just be sure to check out the seller rating and if you're unsure about a new brand, most will accept returns. bellken
If you are ok with cotton pique polos, you could try Uniqlo - https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/men-dry-pique-short-sleeve-polo-shirt-422987.html?dwvar_422987_color=COL39&cgid=men-sale-polo-shirts#start=1&cgid=men-sale-polo-shirts The size charts are fairly accurate. edingc
edingc
Update on my quest for better fitting shirts - I ended up ordering a handful of Divisional 2.0 Polos from Oakley. They were much closer to what I wanted, especially in the shoulders, chest and arms, but the body was still pretty wide. The fabric draped nice, however, and my wife agreed that they looked OK. Not 100 percent happy, I took a stab with the AmazonBasics slim-fit golf polos through Amazon Wardrobe. The color options aren't as great as other brands, and there are no fun patterns, but the fit is perfect. Much similar to my old Puma Cell polo I was trying to replicate. The fabric, although 100 percent polyester, has a pique texture and isn't shiny. Body length is perfect for me to wear tucked or untucked. And the price was good at $15 each.
