justinumbergame
This seems to be a good time of year where people get rid of their used gear. How difficult would it be to get fitted and use those numbers to buy gear? Seems you could get some good deals with something that works relatively well. There's great used gear out there for golfers like me that are mid handicap and want quality and value. Rchang
What I’m thinking of is fit now, hold onto those specs and buy at the end of the year when everyone is dumping inventory. Most manufacturers aren’t that different year to year, especially irons. Timing won't be great as I imagine the used club market has increased with the increased play. The other downside is finding matching specs. It is possible, especially if you get fit into a "normal" window, but you have a huge reduction in what is available to meet your specs. fixyurdivot
Unless you have some way out of the ordinary specs, not much of a challenge. There is so much used equipment available it is highly likely one can find most anything they need at a very competitive price. In fact, many shops will change lie and/or lofts for a nominal fee, so other than swing weight, it makes it even more likely to get what you want. Shapotomous
If you are patient you would likely find clubs very close to your fitting numbers and can adjust them as needed. This is what I did in fall of '19, hit a few irons to see what I liked the feel of, got the fitting numbers and then browsed the classifieds over the winter to find what I wanted. juspoole
Like others have said, definitely an easy way to go to have this done. If you can find a good clubmaker/fitter, they can adjust just about anything for you to get to specs you need. I'm fortunate, that I live across the street from one, so anything I need done, they are walking distance away. Can also be a bad thing if I get to tinkering too much, but we won't go down that path. The one thing I'd suggest is that if you get fit into a specific lie angle for irons, that you not limit your search to that lie angle. 1) Not all listings are going to be accurate - especially if purchasing from an individual. Example, I purchased a set of Vokey wedges a few years ago that were listed as having standard loft and lie, but the lie was actually +2 when I took them into my fitter. 2) Whatever you buy can most likely be bent to the correct lie angle for not much money.
