New Bag for New Season

Alf. S

Recommended Posts

4 weeks to go before the new season so bought myself a new bag. Had looked at the Callaway Org 15 but settled for the Srixon Tour cart bag. Seen here in all its glory.

Iron covers too much?

Not sure about the iron covers either, the only last for about half a round then get fed up taking them on and off or lose one then I put away for another year.

Nice looking set-up Alf!  Do you also have a pushcart bag?

No, I don't think the iron covers are too much. What's wrong with iron head covers?  Most golfers use wood covers and, more recently, putter covers.  There does not seem to be a stigma using those - why should there be with iron covers? I might be inclined to use iron covers were I to start playing, say forged vs. Indestructotanium irons.  I'd be even more inclined to do so if riding in a cart... I hate hearing clubs bashing about behind me. I just played with a guy yesterday that had neoprene covers on his Miura irons (fist time I'd seen these on the courses around here). They had a cool logo on them and he said his wife's friend made them for X-mas. His taking them off and putting them on was of no distraction and certainly wasn't slowing play.  Most amazing is that he wasn't missing any when we walked off #18.

I use an electric Powakaddy trolley, in the UK they have become pretty much the norm for golfers. I would say about 70% of club players use them.

On the iron covers I’ve used forged irons for years and they are all heavily dinged, I go thru phases of using them but in the end it is usually the fuss of taking them on and off when playing makes me put them away. I actually like the look.
