Sub70...Beyond Irons - Hybrids,? Wedges,? Putter?

Pupini

Recommended Posts

In the fall I purchased a combo set of irons from Sub70. 639CB PW-7, 699Pro 5&6, both with Aldila NVGraphite shafts. I've used the clubs for maybe 10 rounds and I love them. They've exceeded my expectations. The feel is great, I've gained a few yards from my old Ping i10s, but the accuracy and ease of use are great.  I've already promised my 17-year-old son a set when the weather gets a bit warmer.

There are a few clubs in my bag that I've been looking to replace, specifically the hybrid (old TM TP model) and maybe a putter. My question is, has anyone tried the Sub70 hybrid or one of the putters?  The JB wedge, looks pretty cool as well, but I don't need a wedge just yet.

I like supporting the little guy, and their customer service is so good, that I would like to give them the sale.

I have seen a few people game the 3 wood @MattF, online it does seem that the utility iron is pretty popular as well in WITB

The 3 wood is the best one I've ever hit and I thought that about the Mizuno JPX-EZ, but the Sub 70 is better. I'm just waiting for my trade-in clubs to be sorted out with them and I'll be ordering a hybrid and 286 wedges.

I ordered a 3 Hybrid, new JB 60 deg wedge and the new 286 wedge as my 56 deg. They arrived this past weekend, and I must say - wow! Jason called me and we discussed a few things about what I was looking for, and what others clubs I was fit for etc. Being able to dial in shaft selection, lie angle - all for free is kind of an unbeatable experience.

The sound off the hybrid is so pure. The wedges were butter. I may end up trading in my old driver/3wood at this point and grabbing a 3 wood from them since everyone seems to rate them highly as well.

One thing I've learned through years following forums or youtube videos - at some point, all clubs tend to perform (nearly) the same assuming they are fit for you. It's hard to beat the value Sub 70 brings to the marketplace. I'll follow up with some photos when I get back home tonight.

My son has the 939x 3 wood and 3 hybrid.  They perform as well as any other 3 wood or hybrid.  There is some draw bias in the hybrid, but it seems to be manageable for him.  The only negatives I've seen so far is that their isn't weight options for swing weighting and the finish on the bottom of the club is coming off pretty quickly from impact.  But it's not like you see that when playing.

Can you explain the trade in program? I am demoing Sub70 stuff now and working with them on an order. I have loaded all my trade in stuff on the trade page, but it is lacking info on how it works. Thanks for your time.

Yeah, you load in all the stuff you want to trade in, then check out. The rest of the instructions are there.

But, you can print out their label, which includes the shipping price, and get $9.99 less for your trade in or not do it. I would recommend using their label. Box up the goods, throw the label on it and get it to a Fedex shipping office. Once the trade in place receives your clubs, they'll go through them and either give you what was quoted or less, depending on your honesty of the condition, and they email you a gift certificate to use with Sub 70.

That's it in a nutshell. Unfortunately my clubs were received over a week ago and still show as pending, so I'm not going to be able to order before my Florida vacation in a couple of weeks.

No worries. I'll tell you now, I spoke to the trade in guys yesterday and they are actually running about 12 days to look at your trade in, not the 5-7 stated on the web site. Apparently with Covid, they've been absolutely slammed with people sending in old clubs.

When I do decide to pull the trigger on replacing my TM SLDR, I'm leaning toward the 939X  3 wood over the Pro. Figured I could use all the help I can get to hit it higher and straighter.

Pulled the trigger on the 939x 3 wood. Can’t wait to hit it and complete the bag. Found a nice deal on the pre-owned section.

This thing is pretty. Can’t wait to hit it. Their customer service is the best in golf. Emailed Mike in the customer service department and he took care of me right away. It was ordered on Thursday and got to my house on Sunday! Can’t say enough good things about Mike and Sub 70! I definitely recommend you check them out for your next golf need, and with the 60 day return policy— there is no reason not to!!

Yes, I have one in the bag already. I only have 9 holes on it but so far it is performing very well. Even out of wet or compacted sand it working as I hoped. I dropped the ball in the bunker on all 9 holes just to be able to try it out well. Also played it out of the fairway.  I had the CBX 56* in the bag before this and the club would bounce off the harder sand and cause me to skull the shot out of the bunker or fairway. Not these, the sole grind allows for better ground connection.  I'm a little OCD so I probably should have waited until the satin was available.

If the rain stays away this morning I plan on playing 18 at 11:00 after I finish up some stuff for work. Already dressed for golf but the sky's are gray.

Did get the 18 in yesterday. So far I really like the JB wedge.  It did everything I asked it to do. 2 sand saves. Couple of severe uphill shots from the fairway to get me close for short par putts.

Have the low bounce jb in 58 and it’s great... have a 286 in 54 and it’s great, too...

I think it’s comparable to any modern wedge. I replaced sm6s with the sub70 and don’t miss anything.

Mavrik 9 degree - Ventus Black 7X

Mavrik 13.5 Degree - Hazardus Smoke

Sub70 19 degree - Proforce V2 8F5

Sub70 4u - Proforce V2 8F5

Sub70 5i - DG S400

Adams CMB 6-GW - Project X 6.0

Sub70 54 (286) and 58 (JB Low Bounce) - S300

SeeMore Trimetal Mallet (Custom fit and built... Kudos to Cody)

And as always, Kudos to Craigers.
