cciciora13 771
I'd love to shoot between +3 and even for a round of 18 this year. That would really be a step in the right direction. Another goal would be to have an eagle or 4 birdies in a round. Putter needs to be better. 2 Quote In my bag: Driver: Ben Hogan GS53 10.5* Stiff Mitsubishi tensei blue Stiff 3 Wood: 939 x 15 deg. Snakster 15
My goal is to join a club for the first time and actually play more than 3 times a year. (I’m 54 and have been playing off and on since I was a teenager. Not sure if I’ve ever played more than half a dozen rounds in any given year.) I have no formal handicap, so getting that is a goal. Finding a regular group of guys to play with. This should go hand in hand with joining a club. Improve short game (I have no metrics to measure this yet, but it’s like the Supreme Court definition of pornography, I’ll know it when I see it) 3 Quote Link to post
tony@CIC 18,723
Lots of great goals in these posts and like the rest of you I want to get better. Early last year I broke 90 for the first time and inconsistently card a high 80's round, this year I want to be consistently in the mid 80's. The question I ask myself is how am I going to accomplish this and other golfing goals. To that I need to understand what's holding me back. For instance one of them is to hit more GIR. Currently what I know is the avg. GIR per round. What I don't know in reflection of playing a round is why did I miss the GIR on a particular hole. So the analytical side of my brain now commands a notebook so that I can log the misses. That info, I hope, will lead to a more specific practice plan. 3 Quote Left Hand orientation G410 SFT driver Cobra King F-9 5 wood 410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts SM7 54* Wedge Glide 3.0 60* Wedge O Works putter NX9-HD - 4 Wheel - too many shoes to list and so many to buy And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Snell MTB-X 2020 Official Tester Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester 410 Driver 2018 Official Tester C300 Link to post

Look at proximity to the hole from various distances when making your notes. That applies to greens but as well. 4 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* set to 16.5* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 816H1 19* set at 18* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 588 54-14, 58-12 Putter: TM-180 Backups: 6330, ER2.2, Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017 Link to post
revkev 22,955
So I will turn 65 this year which means that I move from towards the oldest in my age category of Senior 55-64 to the youngest. That should make me competitive again in some stuff coming up this fall plus I get to move up a set of tees for those competitive events. So goal number one is to play as close to weekly in my league and then to enter in the county and city championship that come up in October weeks after my 65th birthday, make the championship flight in both and the top 5 in the city championship. That's where I was at when I was 55-57 before I had my heart issues and struggled with a variety of other health issues. In order to accomplish those goals I will need to significantly improvement my trap play and proximity to the hole on shots under 150 - moving up a set of tees will mean far fewer shots longer than that on the courses that I will be playing regularly. It goes without saying that I will have to play and practice more this summer towards those steps and goals. That in and of itself will be great. 8 Quote Ping G410 - turned down to11.25 degrees, neutral setting - Fujikura Motore X R flex Ping G410 5-9 wood Wilson D7 forged 6-GW - Mamiya recoil 460 R flex SCOR 52,60 EVNRoll ER 5 Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them Currently testing Edison wedges to replace SCORS that are wearing out. Also auditions for the 14th spot in the bag. Current possibilities are a Ping 26 degree hybrid - duplicates the 9 wood or 5 iron but would be used almost exclusively for chipping or Tour Exotics 3 wood simply because you can carry 14 clubs and I might occasionally hit it in certain unusual wind conditions once every four or five rounds. More GIR is great and will certainly get you into the mid-80's. But for a frame of reference, last weekend I shot 80 on Saturday with a triple bogey and only hit 5 GIR. and on Sunday I shot 87 in the wind with 3 doubles and ZERO GIR. The difference for me is "up and down" shots. MNUte 102
After playing yesterday, I want to add three more goals that i noticed impacted my game. 1. Work on getting more consistent off the tee. I had one perfect 270 yard drive, but I didn't pull our the driver otherwise yesterday cause I have no confidence or consistency with it. 2. Get better at adapting to the conditions. It was a very windy day yesterday. But while I remembered to take that into account sometimes, other times I completely forgot to. 3. Get a round in with my dad. We're in different states, but I just lost a loved one to covid over the weekend. So some way, somehow, I want to get a round in with my dad while I still have the opportunities available. 3 Quote Rag tag bag, but it does the job. Taylormade R1 driver.
