I did learn that this whole thing about CG location in wedges is kind of BS.... So, it’s not a new technique of placing CG, at least primarily.

Interesting statement on the CG and wedges being BS when TXG posted a wedge video that talked about the CG location and how it impact flight and spin. Not saying either is right or wrong; just an observation since I can’t prove one way or the other.

Was thinking the same thing.  Granted human error comes into play, but I feel the TXG guys do a pretty good job of ensuring launch conditions are very similar on the shots they choose to use for comparison.

CG is actually outside of the wedge club head when it’s at address. When hanging perfectly vertical, it might be in the head, but once the club is grounded and ready for use, CG is outside the head on an angle from the shaft above the head. With driver, this is not the case since the size of the head allows area away from the shaft. TXG isn’t studying true CG, they’re studying/displaying differences from a purely weighting standpoint. They’re just using the marketing language as the basis. Physics doesn’t allow the CG to be in the wedge head at address.

Grab your wedge and hold it vertically. Then hold it an angle similar to how it would be at address. It’s impossible now for the TRUE “center of gravity” to be in the head.

Dont disagree that it is outside the head. But that fact in itself shouldn’t. make wedge CG location any less important. I’d have to listen to the video again but pretty sure Ian does mention that the CG is outside the head.
