Both setups are pretty optimal and really would be splitting hairs in which way you want to go. With launch+spin and ball speed and peak height I would give the edge to The tsi3

Yea both work out great, numbers are all pretty tight except for the spin but still anything in that area I am happy with. Screw it gonna have to get both😂

I cannot believe the difference in attack angle from the work you've been doing... you were like -5 back at True Spec right?  That's awesome!

Also, knowing you... those strike patterns with the 44.5 are awesome.  I don't think I've ever seen you stay away from the heel like that.  Both look great, wont be an easy decision!

Spin can be over thought. It has to be taken into context with the other numbers like launch and peak height. 12-14* of launch with anything in the 2200-2700 is going to be roughly the same. The aoa is pretty good with the tsi3 too and would more than likely lead to less of the big miss either left or right.

Ball speed and carry distance is better with the tsi3 so you aren’t losing anything with that spin and the rollout is a calculation based on an algorithm and will vary on the course but carry plays everywhere

Great writeup and pics. Sounds like either would be great in your bag. I've had success with both Cobra and Titleist drivers (910 D2 is still a personal fave), so I'm a fan of either choice.

True both of these in the big picture are extremely close. I swung the Cobra a few more times than the TSI. TSI probably had a few more dead pulls with higher ball speed so to me its all offsetting.

For sure. Numbers wise they are close enough to be a push so in the end it comes down to what you feel is going to allow you to be comfortable over the ball and what you think allows you to play your best.

I was surprised you mentioned Accra shafts since PGASS doesn't show up as a dealer on Accra's website.

Also, what did you think of the shaft selection at PGASS? I know it's less than a Cool Clubs or Club Champion, but did you feel you were missing on anything?

Might not have been ACCRA then. Saw A must not have looked that hard, regardless the "A" was not a good fit.

I really enjoyed it. I don’t think I really notice subtle differences . I just know I prefer a stiff tip and butt for my transition and the F1 felt like it checked those boxes

Interesting that he chose a 44.5" shaft vs the stock length... typically 45/46 nowadays ?

Did he find that you were finding the middle better at that length? FWIW I was fit into a similar length and the difference was eye-opening.

I didnt ask but the striking pattern signaled to that yes. My current setup was slightly more heel, nothing crazy significant but if that slight adjustment gets center well then gotta take it!

First off wanted to thank everyone on this site. This is my 3,000th post. Not everything is golf related and I have really enjoyed coming to MGS and utilizing it similar to other social medias that I have gotten rid of. It is nice to come to this site every day and BS'ing back and forth with everyone. So thank you, cant wait to see was 2021 brings on the site.

Background

Now off to my fitting. Little background prior to my first fitting at TrueSpec in 2019 I had never been fitted and bought off the shelf. Prior to the fitting I had won a TS2 in a tournament and am still swinging that today, have swapped shafts around trying to figure out what feels good and what could play well for me. I have also struggled with a steep negative attack angle and a high spin (typically above 3500). Few of the shafts I have gone through:

-Orignal HZRDUS smoke 6.0 that came stock

-HZRDUS Green 6.5

-Currently HZRDUS Blue TX

Arrival at PGASS

When I got to PGASS this morning my fitter was Patrick Hohman. Nice guy, pretty knowledgeable and we discussed what I knew about my swing which included the AOA (which going in today I had no idea if any of my swing adjustments have effected that) and my very high spin. Right away he said the TX is to much for me (we discussed my current swing speed, typical flight path etc.) I told him I didnt expect to get over 110SS today being the winter and I really have not swung anything besides my 2 simulator trips in the past 2+ months. With COVID I am not working out and just focusing on staying flexible.

We also discussed that I have no brand BIAS and that I wanted to swing everything and anything. My swing overall for today felt pretty damn good. Was not overly fast which I was not expecting to be, contact once I got to the final 2 drivers was extremely consistent (have contact on those which was very pleasing) so I am very confident that whatever my choice is will work great for me peak season when I am usually consistent and stroking.

Here was the final lineup of everything I swung (PING G425, SIM2, TSI3, Callway EPIC, Cobra RAD Speed, TSI2 and lastly my gamer)

309500999_Allclubs.jpg.26c751c420483678962e3fcb7ed08d78.jpg

I told him I did not want to know what he was putting in for shafts just what the head was which kept my head clear I think. I do not know what was in each until I got down to the 2 that number wise and feel wise were the best.

Here was the final look at the end of the day with over 150 swings (removed the mix and match shafts at the end)...Scary to see the wide dispersion but here it is

683560174_AllSwings.jpg.85abce69d303ac3353e978c4061fb87f.jpg

Swinging

First 3 clubs I swung were automatically knocked out. Didn't feel great for me and really didn't like anything about them but the G425 look. Also the numbers were just a no with 0 consistency.

-G425, Epic and SIM2 were knocked out right away. We tried multiple shafts and I just did not enjoy them.

This left me to the TSI3, TSI2 and RAD Speed

The Rad Speed was awesome. Just like last years speedzone. I love the feel, look at address with the matte top and the infinity face. It was great and by all accounts extremely consistent. Had a few off the fairway with dead pulls which is normal for me. I kept my typical baby fade with low spin and great ball speed for what I was swinging at today. The setup was 9* loft set to 8* with a 44.5" MotoreX F1 6X

926296284_RadSpeedContact.jpg.9f15fdae3e001baae7d02cdfbc25d88f.jpgCobra.jpg.a85c65af0e1b08c5924dd02b7e7b5fc3.jpg235824836_CobraShaft.jpg.f0e0b176fe8404c8b4d0166c07504ab9.jpg

Can we just talk about that spin average!?

Next up was the TSI3 and the TSI2. The TSI2 was still too spinney for me and didn't really keep it under 3k so that was a wash. I have swung the TSI3 mutliple times and I love the look and feel. My contact was better (more center where the Cobra a few got high but that's nickel and diming), also a slightly higher spin. This setup was an 8* with the 44.5" HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.5.

2050511972_TSI3Contact.jpg.5a8812756d2ceb5e3d84994daae66207.jpgTSI3.jpg.d51c00d092695bd6c3c4498a2e217e65.jpg1035719211_TSI3Shaft.jpg.9b6abe4885429d1597fd3ec50c474258.jpg

After we got these dialed in and figured out what was working. We swapped multiple different Tensei, ventus and ACCRA shafts in and out (mostly because I just wanted to swing and wanted to go through everything). But nothing really compared to these 2 setups...whether it was feel or numbers these were the 2 clear winners in both aspects.

Decision Time

Well I feel like I cannot go wrong with either setup. I still really enjoy the feel of the RDX Blue but with that spin I am not going to get anywhere, I do wish I thought to put my shaft in the TSI3 and see what happened but I forgot but from my discussions with Patrick that probably wouldn't be the case.

Cost wise going with the Cobra is probably the right move. I also prefer the look of the cobra at address. So I am leaning towards cobra, I liked both shafts, I did not have a preference and since both are stock shafts in their respective clubs will not matter to me. Both setups will be good as I increase speed in the next few months as the snow melts as well.

The experience was great and the data was very reassuring on what I have been working on. More to come as I sell and buy! Again wanted to thank everyone on the site as this is such a great place to come and discuss with everyone!

Great write-up and BTW congrats on the awesome achievement of 3,000 posts.

I really enjoyed it. I don’t think I really notice subtle differences . I just know I prefer a stiff tip and butt for my transition and the F1 felt like it checked those boxes

buy that TSi3 setup and run out of there!!

you’ve got that combo timed up perfectly and you’re finding the middle. 2600 is a very playable on course spin rate, that’s gonna be a great driver for you man.

I mean I didn’t notice a major difference but like I said the subtle stuff. Felt very stable maybe not as stout?

Now that the snow is melting time to get my swing speed back up to season speed and then I’m gonna offer you a matchup somewhere so I can roll by you! 😂💪

it’s Gonna be tough well see which setup but the TSI has 3 consecutive good bay days so....

only way your ball is rolling by mine is if you pick it up and put it in the cart with you 😂😂

i can tell you’re leaning cobra but if i’ve learned anything from watching TXG videos, it’s that the right shaft/head can actually move your strike to the center. it seems like that TSi setup is your golden goose.

Great write-up and thank you for sharing your experience getting fitted for both. I don't think either would be a bad choice, so good luck with whichever you choose.

Congratulations on hitting 3,000 posts. I always enjoy seeing what you have to say and it's been a pleasure getting to know you and I look forward to many more interactions.
