The benefit he saw at the US Open was his play out of rough; more speed and steeper AoA minimized the penal nature of the rough. I don’t know, I listening to the entire interview and while I agree that Rory mentioned speed training, distance was implied in the flattening of the swing remark - certainly a flatter swing is not helpful out of the rough although he acknowledged that Bryon was very good out of the rough.
