Question- if your foursome is playing a 2 v 2 fourball match, and one person on the team commits a penalty that the rules say results in a loss of hole, does his teammate get to continue to play and win the hole? Example: After teeing off, one player drops a ball and takes a practice shot before playing his ball in play. That is a loss of hole penalty I believe. Is he just out of the hole and his teammate can still win the hole for the team?

In fourball the person who committed the penalty is out fi the hole, his/her partner is not since the score used is the best of the two players competing on the team

The only violation I’m aware of for both players is breach of 14 club rule is they are sharing a club or clubs between them.

The players are separate and a loss of hole penalty only applies to the individual player. There is no requirement. For both players to even play the hole and sometimes players never finish the hole.
