The difference between the OG One with and without the Stroke Lab shaft might be the best endorsement of Stroke Lab I've seen yet:

The biggest endorsement of Stroke Lab for me was at a Callaway Product Day two years ago, where I made 9 15 footers in a row with one the first time I touched it.   I don't know why I haven't bought one yet, but the Ten 2 Ball with Stroke Lab is just a matter of time.   Wouldn't be surprised if it wins the Most Wanted Mallet.

Funny - every time I have picked up and tried a Stroke Lab putter I have absolutely hated the feel.

Oh - and MGS hates callaway 🙂

Yeah, we are so biased against Callaway and just look for reasons to blast them...ha

the Anser 4 is not shown on Pings web site.....is this a new model that is coming out or an old model no longer offered?

Yes 🙂

Yeah, funny how an embargo gets accidently broken in a good way.  Whether PING is happy or not, they have something to use in the launch material now 🙂

Not even close to being surprised to see squarebacks perform well, especially in contrast to “ordinary” blade heads. That extra mass really does help with poor strikes.

you guys should have tested TP Mills.......best putters ive ever rolled

While they are great putters, David doesn’t have a production line and wouldn’t meet the criteria for being part of the test. Basically all the putters must be available without having to do a custom order.

I do love the wide blade and it seems they have a real benefit in added forgiveness.

I know the ER2B will be with me for a lonnnnngggg time but I still enjoy this putter test!

always good to see the OG insert do well. I want to say that was the only insert that I really loved. Once they started adding hinges and such to them I moved to milled faces.

With these putters, did you allow the testers to “get fit” for them by changing any weights or was it just what comes off the showroom floor?
I know that in most wanted driver testing the guys got to use different shafts and stuff. My KS1 was a completely different putter when I added the grip weight and added the heavier weights to the head.

The hard part for me, regardless if its off the rack or custom fitted, I can never try out putters in the length I play until I actually purchase it, because I play my putter at 31". I don't find choking down on a longer putter to be exactly the same.

They do no change the weighting of the putters.  They will have us try different hosel types if there are multiple putters submitted and one fits our stroke better;  I think there was only one this year that met that criteria.

For drivers it was only if the manufacturer submitted multiple shafts and the shafts weren't glued in (yes there are still clubs without adapters)

Most wanted testing is designed to test off the shelf clubs in no cost configurations. Basically if you walked in off the street and bought the clubs since that is what the majority of golfers do.   The weight kit is an additional cost add-on.

Once they do Most Wanted for all the different putters, I’d like to see a Most Wanted putting the top 3 or 5 from each category against each other. Would be as simple as just evaluating all the data together?

I  can tell you from my testing,  that the blade putters would destroy the mallets;    There were only 2 mallets that I putted well with.

I would think it would be as simple as putting the data together,  but I don't know the behind the scenes on how all the data is compiled.

I went through a putter fitting and what really stood out to me was the importance of matching the swing arch of my stroke to the toe hang of the putter did to improve my putting.  That said.

How much do you think these tests are affected by the diversity of swing arch in the group.

Have you considered doing Face Balanced, Slight arch and big arch putter tests like you do for swing speeds on drivers?

Just an FYI,  the staff responsible for the testing doesn't generally respond on the forum.

The swing speeds breakdown for the drivers isn't a separate test,  it is based on the number that are captured on the launch monitors.

A putters design has an influence on how a putter performs and rotates through the stroke.   The putter generally doesn't impact arc as arc is primarily determine by how far you stand from the ball or how a player moves the putter.   I would say that a persons stroke impacts how a putter performs during the test.   Since I am one of the testers I can see how each putter differs in ball speeds and dispersion (long, short, left, and right).    This test is performed just like a person walking into a store and picking up a group of putters and trying putters.    Remember this isn't a fitting where the fitter is trying to match up the characteristics of a putter to find what works best for an individual stroke.

Your breakdown for stroke type was in the article:

2021 BEST BLADE PUTTERS BY STROKE TYPE

Best SB/ST Putter - Cleveland Frontline 8.0 - The Frontline 8.0 finished with a positive strokes gained from 20 feet. Throughout testing, testers praised the alignment, weighting, and overall looks of the putter.

Best Slight Arc Putter - The Most Wanted 2021 Blade Putter, the Odyssey White Hot OG #1 Stroke Lab, performed exceptionally from all three distances. The White Hot Face is back and it is primed for its resurrection. It is the real deal.

Best Strong Arc Putter - PING 2021 Anser 4 - The Anser 4 stood out among the strong arc putters. It excelled from 10 and 20 feet during the Most Wanted Test.

I saw your post about plumbers necks on the main article.    Just to let you know MGS doesn't generally pick the putters  in the test;  they request putters from the OEMs and the send what they want to include in the test.   MGS will occasionally add some clubs when a manufacturer doesn't send any clubs.   That said,  I would say that a large percentage of the putters were not plumbers neck.
